Well I am now a May 1st 2010 Bride. I was an October 2009 but we decided to push our wedding back due to my FI brother being overseas and not being able to make it back in time for our wedding! So I am actually enjoying the fact that we get to slow down! Is there anyone else that is a May 2010 Bride and how is everything coming in your planning? Where are you at in your planning?
i'm a may 2010 bride as well! i'm still in school, and i graduate in may! i've planned a few things. i bought my dress already! (luck.. i just happened to walk into the store, tried it on, and bought it!) i know what kind of flowers i want (origami roses), and i've looked at a few locations. other than that, i haven't made any real commitments.

My wedding is set for May 22, 2010, the reason is because my fiance won't get his Masters until that time and he wants to graduate before he gets hitch! We booked our venue, and in the process of booking our photographer/videographer and searching for a church. I've been researching almost every night on wedding stuff such as flowers, hair/makeup, etc. I already made a folder of same hairstyles/makeup and flowers. I know we're not getting married until next May, but I know time will fly by!
WOW.. I have ideas. That is about it. And well some designs that I have made for our STD's and invitations. We are trying to nail down a venue this week! Ugh! I guess we really should get planning a little more since I want to DIY so many things!

YAY!!! Some May 2010 brides!! I'm May 22, just like Cherry Blossom! Gosh, it sounds so far away, doesn't it?? Well, so far we have a venue and photographer. I have a pretty good idea of the dress I want, but I can't bring myself to commit just yet. Like the rest of you, I have TONS of ideas but it just seems too far to begin any execution. No matter how much I wish I could! I hope this board grows!!
Congrats everyone!!! I am getting married on 5/22/10! We have the date and venue and are probably going to take a little break with the wedding planning to try to have an engagement party. I will probably start looking at some dresses at the end of March.

I dont know about you guys but I am getting no where fast. It seems just to far in advance. But in that same breath I don't want to wait until I am stressing! We thought we had a venue but well that one is in the air. So all in all I have nothing but a lot of ideas!
OH wait we are taking engagement pictures in april which I can not wait for. We are doing some cute firefighter ones and some on the Jetty's. Well girls keep us updated!!!!

I'm a May 28 2010 bride!! I am currently setting our venue...I looked at some invitations and made a budget spreadsheet, but otherwise I am enjoying the fact that I can really take my time planning this thing!!
We're getting married May 1, 2010. Actually, he hasn't even proposed yet, but we decided to start planning now while he waits for the right time to ask me. We've got the ceremony/reception location booked, I've designed invitations (and all that goes with the invitation), STD's, and the programs. We've decided on a caterer, but haven't booked anything yet because we haven't announced it to our family and friends yet. We're hoping a friend of a friend will do the photographs and a friend's brother is a DJ, so we've got that taken care of. You'll notice that I've got a touch (total understatement) of OCD. The more I have planned now, the less stressed I'll be later, right? Good luck ladies and congratulations on your engagements!
You ladies are super lucky having a little more than a year till the nuptuals. I have 7 months till the big day! I am cool and calm only because I have been planing for the past 14 months. The best thing that you can do is plan organzie and buy everything now.
We have a few more vendors left to pay, but pretty much they are paid 3/4.
To cut cost and to satisfy my crafty side I am DIYing everything except the flowers. So all that is left is putting everything together.
But you will see this time next year you will have so much done that you will think that you are missing something.
WOW Anw846 I wish I was that prepared! Great Job!!!!!! I am still shocked at how much you have done. I just can't modivated!
Shay: I agree.. I really want to get all this finished so the closer it gets the better off I am in the stress department. BECAUSE I WILL GET STRESSED!!
I am really trying to get thing going and actually putting things together. Maybe dress shopping will help me!!! I am hopefully flying into Dallas this month to try some on. I can't wait. My FMIL is helping me and I am so greatful.

Hi ladies! Congrats to all!
My FI and I are planning a tentative May 1, 2010 wedding! There is a slight possibility it may change to June 12, 2010.
So far, we've scouted out a few reception sites, and pretty much decided we want an outdoor wedding. I'm trying to decide whether or not to have it at my grandma's lake house (which needs a lot of yard work but is otherwise gorgeous!)
I've bought my dress (haven't taken measurements yet) at a bridal salon in S.F. (this was last year, before I was officially engaged and when I was living up there) *sigh* I love it, but it'll be a bit of a trek to go up there for fittings!
I've bought all the birch centerpieces I love as well as lanterns, votives, a birdcage veil and cathedral veii, apothecary jars for candy bar and that's it!
We just had our engagement shoot this weekend--I'm soooo excited to see the photos! Yay!

Hi Ladies! I'm planning on getting married in May 2010 in NY . . . but we haven't found a reception site yet. We've narrowed it down to three but are trying to figure out the details related to each one. Can't wait to finally choose one so that we can start working on some of the details.

I understand being ready to pick somewhere. It is so much easier to work out details once you know where.. Then things fit into place. We finally picked our place and I working on the photographer now.. Keep us posted and CONGRATS!!!
I've FINALLY FINALLY booked! We'll be getting married on Long Island in New York on Memorial Day 2010 (May 31).
I'm May 15, 2010! The first thing I did was get my dress, which just kind of happened, I wasn't expecting to get it as soon as I did! This week we booked a venue and I started buying a few ceremony/reception decoration items. Next on my list is the photographer. I feel like people think I'm crazy, but I just want to get everything taken care of so I'm not one of those stressed out, last minute brides!

cfitz621 -- East Meadow Jewish Center (We're moderately religious Jews and needed a kosher place) ... In September, I went to a gorgeous wedding at Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage, N.Y. Have you looked there? They do a beautiful affair and it's right on a picturesque golf course.
Yay for May 2010 brides! My FI and I have planned to get married on May 22, 2010! It will be our 7 year anniversary! :)
As for planning... We've decided on the venue/reception site, but haven't signed a contract yet. And I've also tried on dresses and picked the one I want, and now I'm just waiting for it to go on sale!
And I, like most of you, have SO many ideas and am excited to actually start seeing them come together.
I'll keep you updated though!

I dont know about you ladies but time is moving fast!
We have the venue/recpetion site! YEAH!!! And we got it at a great deal! I finally got our invitations designed and I am so happy with them! It took a lot of tries! I really want to get things finished as quickly as possible. Just so I dont have to stress over it! How is everyone else coming along? Do you have your colors and ideas?
So far we are thinking June 4, 2010. I have done alot of looking but nothing concrete yet. There is a wedding venue I LOVE but FI isn't thrilled with it and he wants to keep searching. I feel like I have searched from here to space. We found one other place that we both liked but they were not flexible AT ALL. I gave them a budget to work with (they told me they could work with that budget) and when I got the menu proposal the cocktail hour was non-existent!!! only a cheese platter!!! SOOO.. I uped the budget a bit to include more food for cocktail hour (another 1200) and asked that they throw in use of the terrace for the cocktail hr (they normally charge a $300 fee)... well they said NO! SO, with that I wanted to tell them that the could %^$#@$%&&,, but I just never rsponded.. so am on the search. That is my biggest issue right now... then deciding on wedding colors.. ugh so many to choose from I can't decide!!!
I gave Fi the task of looking for venues this weekend while I am away visiting a friend. If he comes up with nothing.. we are booking the place I love .. that's it o more searching. have your FI's been picky about venue's????

esgNYbride - I looked at Carlyle on the Green online but didn't actually visit, don't remember why. All of my cousins (I have a TON) got married on LI so I've been to a bunch of places too. I think we're going to end up in the city, downtown brooklyn, or long island city. We are terrible at making decisions!

We've just started planning...going to have a destination wedding so there are a lot of details that have to get set before you can start dealing with all the fun stuff!

We're currently working on seeing if our first choice is going to work out financially for us. Right now it SEEMS a bit steep for the reception costs. We're looking at it from like 2400 angles. When we finally decide on something I'll def. update!
I love that this board exists, so I don't feel like I'm too crazy for planning so early!
I just booked my venue and the caterer! We have our photographer picked out, but I'm trying to convince my fiancee to open up an airline loyalty credit card, since the photog will let us charge his fees! (We'll pay it off right away, but I want to start saving the miles for our honeymoon!)
I already designed the Save the Dates, and I'm currently making a bridal newsletter and "Will you be my bridesmaid" cards/gifts.

So about the whole "planning in advance" thing...I'm 14 months from our wedding and I bought my dress on Monday. Hmm maybe I'm just a little exicted? We also have our venue, photographer, and DJ. But ya know what, I'm unemployed and what else am I supposed to do (besides job search I guess lol)?

I was doing an internship search earlier this year, but wedding planning is so much more fun! Instead of studying for midterms, I designed my Save the Dates!
I am a May 21, 2010 bride. Friday night wedding and I am not engaged yet but I have been planning. We have been dating since high school so its been known for awhile we have been going to get married and May 21st is our dating anniversary. We have our photographer booked because I went to a bridal show with my mom and his mom and we went to the booth for the place. All three of us fell in love with his work and booked him that same month. Other than that I just have a lot of ideas bouncing around. He graduates this May so that will help. I have finals the week of my wedding... am I crazy??
May 22, 2010 bride here! We have our venue and photographer booked. I think the next big things to tackle are the caterer and dress. It's great having a lot of time to plan, but also sort of hard at the same time because wedding things are constantly on my mind!!

Hello fellow May 2010 brides!
We are hoping to book our venue by next weekend. I'll be making appointments with a few caterers after we have the venue secured. I've been doing a ton of research on photographers too.
I am SO glad to have found a place where people are already planning too! I started to think maybe I was jumping the gun a bit. I wanted to start early though so I could take my time and plan things and not feel the time crunch.

I am May 1, 2010 and we are having a destination wedding in Jamaica.
So far, we have the venue and photographers (engagement and wedding). I am working on designing the invitations and STDs now. Also, we are working on completing our website as we are beginning to get more inquiries about how/where to book.
I must say that everything seems downhill after finding the venue. The venue has been the most difficult decision so far.

I'm May 1, 2010 as well! it's my "half Birthday'.. as in 6 months away from my birthday of November 1st which is one of the reasons I love the date!

well, we have invitation and save the dates, ceremoney and reception are at the same place, flowers are about done, i bought my dress, so there is not a while lot left to do really, until the time is closer. i guess just save money and buy what i can as i have the chance. That is what happens to me when i have so much time. then again, every day i think of something i could do to help keep things easier in the future
