When I was working from 8 to 8, I went to the gym from 8:30 to 9:30 and still slept fine. For me, exercise knocks me out. I couldn't work out in the morning because I would be so exhausted all day.
i have been doing my p90x at like 10pm! it feels great and i fall right asleep! :)
I don't sleep well if I workout too late. I try to keep it before dinner, or if not, 7:30 is the latest I will start.
I workout at all hours of the day lol. Sometimes I don't get to do my workout until 10pm. I just shower afterwards and hit the hay. No problems sleeping, usually!
In college I would go at 11 pm, go home, shower, and go straight to bed and sleep like a baby. Now, I've been hitting the gym around 8:30-9 pm and have no trouble falling asleep around 11 pm.
I prefer to workout late morning or early afternoon. However my work schedule often forces me to work out later in the day. If I can manage to get some time before 8 PM, I might do a Bowflex workout or some step-aerobics. But if I am running really late, I chose something more mellow, like a Pilates workout or stability ball workout. I have dozens of fitness DVDs of different intensities and durations and go by how my body feels and my schedule.
I just got back from the gym :) I like working out at night - it helps me go to sleep. I just make sure to stretch and shower afterward.
I normally work out and then go to bed. I guess it all depends on you personally. If you do it once and cant sleep I guess you'll know working out before bed isnt for you :)
It depends on if exercising energizes or relaxes you. It energizes me, so if I work out within 2 hours of my bedtime, I have a hard time falling asleep. But, if I do yoga, I can do that and then go right to bed.
FH works out later in the evening than me and has no trouble falling asleep.
I think it really depends on the person. You will know after you do it the first time or so. I cannot workout past 9 pm. I did last night because I needed to get a workout in. I'm paying for it today. NOT GOOD!
I personally try to start my workout no later than 6:00pm on weeknights. I have a really short commute and usually leave by 5:30 so it's usually possible. For me, I have to workout before eating dinner b/c it's slows me down if I've just eaten a big meal.
I think it depends on the person. I can workout anytime of the day. I'm a student with stuff going on at all hours of the day, so if I limited my workout times to certain hours, there would be a lot of days I wouldn't be working out at all!
I work out after 10pm or early early in the morning. I work 10:30 to (10:30-8 in a few days for the next couple of months! Yay overtime and extra cash for wedding!) so I either have to get up at 6am to work out or I do it after I get off, get my daughter to sleep, eat dinner, and have a moment of alone time. I sleep fine! After a hot shower, my muscles relax and I'm out!
@stephanie63087: LOL! I second that comment. When I did my P90X program, there were times when i thought I was going to fall asleep in the shower. Good Stuff!!

I have procrastinated, and now am wondering if working out now will make it hard for me to sleep. How late can you exercise and still sleep ok?
