Okay, TMI ahead...
This past winter I went off BC pills because my particular kind was causing stroke an death in people. It is hard to say for sure when my normal periods resumed because I had monthly periods even when on the pill. However, after 2 or 3 cycles (I can't remember which) I got a yeast infection for the first time and then got one in decreasing severity each month for about 5 cycles. So I would guess that it took me 3 cycles to get back to normal ovulation, because of the yeast infections. But this could also be me relating two unrelated things. I hope you don't have the same problems as me regarding the yeast infections. I mentioned it to the gyno and she didn't seem to think it was common, or related, but I can't think of any other cause because I have never gotten them in my life.
@pinkbubblegum-Hmm that is weird to get those I hope I don't! Did you experience being tired more then usual?
I wrote a post about this a little while ago...I've been off the pill since my last period on June 15th. I haven't gotten my period since...and I'm a little worried. I contacted my doctor, and he said that they usually wait until the missed 3rd cycle until they see me. I took a few pregnancy tests, and I'm not pregnant according to them. I'm currently at day 72, and still nothing except for more breakouts and a good amount of weight loss.
Hopefully, things will get back to normal shortly for me! But I'm curious to see if other bees have more insight!
From what I've read, it varies so much! I stopped the last week of April and had breakthrough bleeding for a few days. About five weeks later I had my first period.
@2PeasinaPod: Going for a long time can be normal! I once went 6 months without one! Then i had it come back and last 3 months. It was terrible, but I was traveling in Europe and my gyno said that the stress of travelling and the time changes etc, could be the reason!
I don't think I was more tired than usual, at least not that I noticed. I do think I experience less ups and downs in terms of moodiness. A few days before my period I basically went nutty and would get really upset (mad or sad) about little things. After coming off hormonal birth control I'm less moody.
@vistagirl: Oh goodness...3 months?? My husband wouldn't be very happy if that happened to me! Haha...good to know that I'm not the only one in my boat though!
It was 40 days before my period came. I was on BC for 10 yrs before I went off for the 1st time since I've been sexually active.LOL It was quite scary. I chart, so that's how I knew exactly how many days.
@2PeasinaPod: yeah it was NOT fun!
I am finding going off BC now, I am breaking out like crazy! I have only been off for like 2 weeks, so no idea how long befoire things are regular again!
I am in the same exact boat as 2PeasinaPod... I went off in June and I haven't had a period yet. I'm probably at close to 75 days or so. I tried counting and I started getting upset so I stopped!! I think I am over-thinking it too, which is possibly delaying it further. I've taken like 5 pregnancy tests- all negative I research it all the time too, lol. My doc said to call back in September if it doesn't come, bc that would be 3 months. I just want it to come on its own though!! I too had a lot of cramping and breaking out etc, I even very lightly spotted and I thought it was coming but it didnt. :(
I temporarily went off BC pills for the first half of this year for various reasons. Anyways, I got my period on the exact day I would've if I had been on the pill. The following month it was closer to a 35 day cycle. I was on the pill for about 2-3 years, not sure if the length you took it is important or not. I also stopped at the end of a pack, I think I read that stopping in the middle can make some difference?
My cycle stayed exactly the same timing the first month off- just heavier and way more cramps. I'm still not entirely convinced that I ovulated last month. There is definitely a change in cervical mucus this second month. I have so much more energy now off the pill!
Mine never regulated. I was off BC for about 8 months before we got pregnant and it was all over the place. (I had always cycled like clockwork the 14 years prior to using BC - was only on BC for 2.5 yrs) I'm hoping when my cycle starts again after begin pregnant it will finally have regulated! No more BC for me EVER.
First I got it 29 days after I got off, and then the next cycle was the normal 28 days.
I went off after our honeymoon in mid-July (and after being on BC for the better part of 14 years)! I've been lucky so far - 1st cycle was 31 days and I'm on CD18 of my second cycle. I've been temping this cycle and everything seems to be normal, but I guess we'll see!

This is my first month off of Birth Control pills and I was wondering how long it took some of you to get a period. Mine were always like clock work. I"m a few days late so no reason for alarm. But I did have my normal breakouts the week prior and then the achy feeling on the day I should have started. So just curious what others experienced.
