I went off in October '09 and went back to a regular cycle almost immediately. I was on the pill for about 12 years (yikes!) and had always had a very regular, set-your-watch-by-it cycle and I've gone back to that since stopping BC. I've requested TCOYF from my local library and I'm just waiting for it to come in - can't wait to start reading it!
I was on BC pills off and on (mostly on) for about 15 years. The few times I went off including this last time, I was immediately regular. I waited 2 cycles and then we started trying and were successful!
I was on them for 10 years and cycles were immediately normal after going off (took my skin a while to adjust though). We haven't started TTC yet but will be soon.
Mine were 23-29 days for the 7 months until I got pregnant. So, it wasn't crazy irregular, but some of the problems were due to having a cyst that went away on its own in month 3 I think.
side note: I'm glad I started tracking right away, anyway, bc it helped them figure out my cyst issues. Luckily it resolved itself, but if it hadn't, I was able to catch it fast before TTC using the data I had from fertilityfriend.com (menstrual tracking/flow only data).
I've been off the pill since May and my cycle still isn't regular. I had a 45 day cycle, then 33, and now I'm on day 35. It is pretty common to take a few months to get back to a regular cycle.
am i the only person in the world with a regular cycle on BC pills? i'm confused how was your cycle "off" when you were on and why did it take awhile to get back to a normal cycle?
I was on the pill for 12 years before I came off of it. My first cycle immediately after I came off was 84 days. I was really starting to get quite worried that I wasn't going to get a period! But finally, it came...and it was right before I was going to call my doctor for a second time. After that, it became much more regular. I'm still about 30 - 35 days/cycle, but it's definitely regulated more since the first cycle.
Did you already come off the pill? If so, how long has it been? They usually don't bring you in until you've been at least 90 days (at least that's what my doctor told me).
Edit: Went off in June and have had about 4 official cycles since then (including the 84 day one) and still not able to get pregnant. I'm hoping that changes this month, so we'll see!
It took me a good six months or so to get off the pill. I had been on it for about five years. I didn't have a period for the whole six months, and I was constantly freaking out that I was pregnant (despite the fact that I hadn't had sex since getting off them) because it was so weird. Even after my periods returned, they continued to be a bit weird in terms of flow for a while.
@rlsh86: I think OP was referring to getting back into a regular cycle naturally. Your BC pills sort of force it so when you go off things can be wonky for a bit.
I was on the pill for 7 years and my cycle came back quickly...although not very regular...and I got pregnant only a few months after stopping the pill and one month after TTC.
Mine took awhile to get regular, it actually went MIA for a 6 months after I stopped taking the pill. I was freaking the "F" out and took a million pregnancy tests! (This was years ago) Now everything is regular.
For me month 1 was 31 days, month 2 was 38...still waiting on month 3. Will update! (I was on BC straight for 11 years).
I had a 10 day cycle... then a 100+ day cycle (took provera to provoke af - which it did) and currently am on cycle 3 sitting at cd46 with a couple of bfn's under my belt. I went off bc June 15th.

How long y'all? On TCOYF, they won't count it until you've been off the pill for 3 cycles.
