We will probably aim for at least once a month. She’s only 2.5 weeks right now, so hopefully before the end of the month. The problem is I’m breastfeeding and for whatever reason I just can’t get much when I pump. I literally have to pump for like 2 days to get enough for not even one feeding. So it might be a quick date night, but hopefully we can have one soon.

Don’t feed ashamed that you want some alone time with your DH. So many people forget to focus on their relationship with their other half after they have a baby and that can lead to problems for the two adults. It’s great to be able to get out and enjoy yourselves. At 4 weeks PP  that is definately not too soon. Get out and enjoy your husband!

Don’t feel ashamed for wanting a date night with DH! My DD is 2 and we have one once a month. It gives us husband/wife time and not daddy/mommy time. You still need to make time for yourselves and nurture your relationship so you can be the best parents you can be.

We had a short date when DD was 2 weeks.  The hardest part of that was trusting someone to watch her, even though she slept the whole time we were out.

Pick something close and quick.  I still haven’t been out to a movie or anything, but even if it’s just popping out for dessert for an hour, it’s worth it to recharge your batteries.

ooh great question, i’ve been wondering this!

for us, when the baby comes i think it will depend where we are living. There is a very good chance that we will be moving to fi’s hometown near his parents as soon as the baby is born. If so, I know i can trust my MIL to look after the baby for an hour or two when i feel ready

If we are still here it’s a lot trickier, as we wont have any family to help out (DH’s family are a different state, mine are a different continent). Trusting a stranger, or even a good friend would be a lot harder

im hoping by 2 months we’ll have time for a nice dinner!

I hope to have one when my mother comes next week, so when she is about 3 weeks old.  Something quick, no more than 2 or 3 hours away.  Like lyndz, though, it takes a while to pump enough.  So it may take me 2 days to get enough that I feel comfortable leaving her for even that long.  I’d like to leave my mother with at least 4 oz to be on the safe side.  And then I want to drink so I’d like to have enough pumped and saved for at least two more feedings after that.  Hmm, I’d better get started now . . .

My mother’s only staying 6 days, so have to seize the opportunity.  I’ll get another chance when she’s here for a month in October, and then I’m not sure when we’ll have another chance.  I don’t know about leaving her with a stranger, and we have no family out here.
