I don't think it is too early to start looking, at all. We got ours 5 months before our wedding. You are going to want to make sure you get something that you will love and will fit next to your ering, so looking for something sooner, rather than later is usually a good thing.
I dont think its ever too early if you already know what you want i say go for it!
I picked mine up this week and my wedding is in mid april
Some rings have to be ordered in so I'd say sooner is better. My wedding is April 2 and my wedding band was due to come in March 15 which was a bit close for my comfort. Luckily it came in a bit early and I have it now!
Might as well get it when you think of it. We ordered FI's band about 8 months in advance, because we got it online and weren't sure how much we'd like it, so we wanted to give ourselves plenty of time to find another. My band was custom-made to match my e-ring, so we had that done about 5 months in advance, to leave plenty of time. I think you might as well get things like this out of the way.
Well, it appears that we're getting married on the same day and I've been looking at bands for a while now. I expect we'll buy them in the next two to three months.
I bought my ring in mid January, sent it back to Tacori to get resized with my engagement ring (the e-ring was too loose), and it was here by Valentine's day. We ordered it then because our jeweler said it could take up to six weeks to get back. Our wedding is in 13 days, so it was a good timeframe for us.
I had an October 10, 2009 wedding. We got our rings during a semi-annual wedding band sale at a jewelry store where a friend works at. With the sale, we got to look at a wide selection of bands to choose from and have a built in discount too. The semi-annual was at the end of August. August 30th according to my Twitter. We picked them both up exactly a month later. Since mine was a 2mm white gold comfort fit band, it took less than a week to come in. My husband's took the entire month because it was a special order in a slightly wider band than the sample.
we bought our bands 14 months in advance.....but we like to get things completed instead of waiting.
I got it with my E ring... I wanted them to match perfectly. So 12 months!
I agree that it's never too early. I think we bought our bands about 5 or 6 months before our wedding...but we knew which bands we wanted about 9 months before our wedding.
we got engaged in august and my band was booked by sept. 1st... you should def. book soon b/c you want to make sure the band you want is available for your date!
it was the first thing we did after getting engaged. just do it whever you want to.
We had them made ages before hand but only got them the day before the wedding because my nana brought them over with her (they were made by my uncle who lives back in NZ)
We got it done 8 months in advance. I started looking basically when I got engaged, haha. Ours don't match, so I didn't have to go through the whole thing of dragging FI to the store several times- I researched for a couple months before purchasing mine, he picked his in about 3 minutes flat. I would at least start looking now if I were you...
Yeah, ours won't match either. FI just wants plain 9ct gold
I want platinum or eternity so I've been looking by myself and will continue to do so. He'll probably just buy his at the corner store...
I think that FI and I are going to order ours soon. We may just do layaway, since we don't need them yet, and have a lot of other bills coming out at once. But, income tax money will be in soon too, so it may be worth doing it all at once.
I just picked ours up on Saturday for our June 18th wedding. They took about a month to come in. So we ordered them a little more than 4 months before.
@shaunna: I dont think there is a too early when it comes to wedding rings. We bought ours 2.5 months before our wedding. I will say though that as soon as we got them we wanted to start wearing them! It was hard not to put them on until the wedding!
@PitBulLover: Haha, I agree- I think that's the only downside to getting them early:) FI catches me sneaking peeks at mine every now & then- he keeps telling me it's bad luck to wear them before the wedding
we got mine last month so that was 4 months out, but we havent bought FI's band yet. I actually wanted to get mine sooner but waited for the vals day sales
I got my e-ring reset a couple weeks ago and fell in love with a set that came with the wedding band so we got my wedding band over a year before.
We ordered ours at the end of January, so about 4 1/2 months before the wedding. It worked well for us because it only took a week to come in and now its one less thing to think about before the wedding. BUT I had to give my FI my ring to keep for awhile, because I kept wearing it :) It's just too tempting sitting around my bedroom lol.
It took awhile to find one that would match mine, since the matching band was $2K (!!!). When we found it while browsing, we bought it. It was about 5 months before the wedding. It took 2 weeks to get resized. We haven't found my FI's ring though. But I think we have unti at least May to find it.
Ours took about 6 weeks to come in after we ordered them. We bought them in August and they arrived towards the end of September (a few weeks before the wedding).
