I just don't know how long before the actually wedding date do I send out the save-the-dates??? 1 year?? 1 1/2years???

typically it's 6-8 months...unless you are inviting people that need to make travel arrangements, i.e. flights and hotels. You may want to let them know around 8-9 months before the wedding.

About 6 months. Ours are going out this week, our wedding is exactly six months from Thursday.

Funny I was just thinking the same thing!! We aren't getting married until Oct 2011, but I have no idea what the time frame is for when to send out the STDs and when to send out the invitations?...

It depends on a lot of things. You might want to send them out a year ahead if you are having a destination wedding or if it is on a popular weekend (i.e. July 4th, Labor Day). Otherwise I think 6 to 8 is fine.
