    Hi -

Our wedding is next March and the chocolate favors we'd like are on sale now - for the best price I've seen since I started eyeing them in May.  They are custom wrapped hershey miniatures on sale through Wedding Channel.  I'd love to order them now at the sale price, and have room to store them in a closet (that is air conditioned), though I'm concerned they'll either go stale or melt.  Does anyone have any experience or recommendations?

    Thanks!

Personally, I think 6 months is pushing it.  Wrapped chocolate does go stale after a few months.  It can turn this white-ish color and get chalky.  You might be able to get away with it... but I'd hold off, if you can.

I am also getting married in March and have been watching for good deals on candy for our candy buffet. Most of the stuff that I have seen in the stores is good until May of next year. I'm not sure how that compares to anything purchased through Wedding Channel though.

Maybe it's not smart to buy this early but I have a stash building in my closet---hopefully it really will be good until several months from now.

We did a candy buffet, I had chocolate from valentine's day, stored it in cool basement, it was fine.. and tasted great... companies have chocolate sitting in the back of their stores months before holidays.. you'll be fine

As long as you keep the chocolate in a cool dry place, you can keep it fresh for up to a year; sometimes longer. The one thing that you might take into consideration when you purchase yours is the time that it may have already been sitting in the warehouse. If it is on sale now, you should be fine. don't keep it in the fridge or freezer. It will change the color and taste of the chocolate.

Maybe once you order it and get it, put it in some air tight tupperware to help keep them even fresher.
