I havent picked out the company yet, I am wondering what the average amount of time is.
I know for my clients I try to have a 2/3 week turn around time for them. I can normally do it quicker if needed but that is my standard. I would ask the company who you choose first if you are in hurry.

Mine took 3 weeks from the time I finalized the order to the time they shipped them out to me.
I ordered my wedding invitations on January 3rd and havent gotten them yet (and probably wont til the end of this month or early next month). But my invitation person is not the best and Im totally regretting using her. Engagement party invitations I would think would take less time than a wedding invitation.
Totally depends on the company / person you're working with. Best advice is just to simply contact whomever it is you're working with and find our directly from them. It varies so much! I ordered my customized wedding invitations from 123Print and was not expecting to receive my invites as quickly as I did. I think I ordered the invites on a Monday afternoon and got a notification that they had been shipped out to me the Tuesday of that same week!
One day! I took mine to Kinko's...what a great deal, and they did SUCH a good job.
