I am almost two months past and am only half done. I'm feeling like a bad bride right now.
Haha today we have been married for 1 month..and I have like 3 done.
I feel like a bad bride too, but there is just so many more things I could be doing, and it takes forever to write them all out and then look up the addresses..and the husband is working like crazy and we'd rather spend time together talking or laying around when he gets home.
I don't know when I will get them done!
i was SO on track with shower thank-you's and early gift thank you's. I have like 175 to write now from the wedding, plus 20 or so from the shower 2 weeks before the wedding, and it is DAUNTING. (wedding was 9 days ago?) I think I am going to set a goal of 5 per night and just make it happen.
I've got all of mine done, except for gifts that are still coming in, of course. I also have not tackled thank yous to all of our vendors.
Though my DH only wrote 1/4 of the thank you notes, it was a huge help! I will continue to ask him to write to guests from his side, as I know they were appreciated.
If you have a lot it can certainly be overwhelming. We didn't have a local wedding, so we got a lot of gifts before the wedding -- getting those done really simplified things after. After the wedding we mailed them all within 5 weeks with a few exceptions.
Dang. I was told 2-3 months is good.
I had 65 to write, but had trouble getting the pictures in so I could order them from Shutterfly. Otherwise I think I'd have had them done last month. I put the last 2 in the mail yesterday....to a late gifter and my MIL. The people closest to us are the hardest ones to write for!
We did photo thank yous so I had to wait for the pictures from my photographer and then order the actual thank you notes. Once they came in I sat down and wrote all 95 in 2 weeks. They all went out 6 weeks after the wedding. It felt soo good to get them done!
I am waiting on our professional photos prior to ordering the thank you cards - as a picture will be included. Hopefully this is acceptable.
Oh I was terrible! I took about 8 months! Hopefully family and friends didn't mind too much :)
Its been 2 months and I still have about 35 cards left to do (out of 100+ I think). Im slowly but surely getting it done. Id really like to have them finished by our 3 month anniversary.
Well reading all of the comments I know I feel much better! =) I still have time!
when we came home from PNG we had a number of gifts & cards so i did the thankyou cards within a week. im expecting more gifts at our elopement party next week and im planning on having them out within a week also
our families are greek & italian... if i dont do them that quickly people will talk
If you are waiting for photos from your photographer it's a bit more acceptable for it to take longer. However people do notice how long it takes to get thank you cards. I had a ton of people comment on the fact that I had my thank you cards out for my engagement party the week after the party and another friend took 6 months. So try to get them done as soon as possible.
It took us about two months to get them all out. I've heard anywhere from 2-3 months, to 6 months, to up to a year is fine. I think people understand if they're not out right away, or at least I hope they would!
We wrote a few to early gifters, but didn't have time starting about 2 weeks before the wedding (when gifts really started coming in). I also had a shower 1 week before the wedding, so the number of cards is a lot!
I had heard it's a good idea to write some on the flight to/from your honeymoon...but we could not motivate.
I just wrote about 10 today...DH says he'll do the same when he gets home from work. I figure at that pace we should have 'em done within another month. Registry gifts are still coming in, though.
Like, a month and a half.... I couldn't WAIT to get them done with!!!!!
As far as I understand, you have a year to give a gift, but you should thank the gift gifter as soon as possible. I would not wait 6 months or a year.
Case in point, we received placesettings from DH's grandfather and his wife. I sent a thank you 1 week later. One week after that I received an email asking if we had received the gift. They were worried it was lost/stolen/broken/hadn't arrived. I assured her that we received it and that the thank you note was in the mail. It literally was in the mail and she received the note later that day. I would have felt extremely embarrassed/guilty had it not been in the mail when she inquired.
I'm almost 4 weeks past and haven't started yet... we don't have that many but I should really get started on them... bad bride... :-(
It took us almost exactly 2 months to complete our thank you's. Tomorrow will be two months and we sent the last of them out 2 days ago!
Our wedding was in September, and our goal was to get them out before Thanksgiving. We had over 200+ to write, so we took it one step at a time and did 10-15/night. It got us through the hard ones and we mailed them all out right before the holiday.
We havent even started our thank yous! But I was planning on waiting until we got our pro pics so I could get photo thank you cards made, and also include a 4x6 group shot for everyone. I dont think anyone will mind if they get their thank yous 2 months later... will they??
I just finished 20 more today so including brother/sisters we have about 15 left. Granted about 40 of them are sitting around waiting to get a stamp on them but they are written!!!
It took us one month since we came back from the honeymoon. I just wanted to get them done right away!
I took longer than I wanted- it can be so hard right after the wedding! I got them out about 2 and 1/2 months after. I had waited for pictures from the photog too- so that held me a bit. If you only 17 days out, you're fine! Enjoy being a newlywed and the TYs will get done soon - try to do a few each night. Congrats on your marriage!

It's been 17 days since the wedding and I've gotten a few of them done, but I really need to get cracking. The problem is I feel so unmotivated and I don't know why. How long did it take you ladies to get them all done? What is a reasonable time frame?
