i was really grateful that we my FI and I both agreed on a date in summer of 2012. I knw how crazy and detail oriented wedding planning is. For the last 2 months I have actually been checking out sites and looking into all my options. The only thing so far that I have is the date... 7-7-12, 18 months away. Even thought I feel like it's a long ways away, I know it's going to creep up on me. how long did you take to plan your wedding? Days? Months? Years?

I have a similar timeline as you... about 17 months. I made sure to get the important stuff out of the way before we got into year territory (Venue, Photog, Officiant) Got my dress at about 10 months and am just finalizing the dj stuff right now at about 8 months...

I feel the crunch coming, but will be fine because the big important stuff is out of the way so now I think (hope!) it will come a little easier and I will be able to enjoy the process as it gets closer.

We were engaged for a year, but there were a million days I wish we would have done a 7-10 month engagement.  I spent a few months not really doing anything and there were several times I felt it stretched the stress out.  But I bet I would have wished the opposite and felt rushed if we did the shorter engagement.

I started planning at two years. Everyone said it was too soon, but I wanted to be able to take my time and get the things that we want. I am glad that we were able to take our time. We are now almost there and I am feeling like I need even more time.

I got engaged August 20, 2010.  By late November I had the entire wedding planned, so a little over 3 months.  I've never felt rushed this whole time and have gotten frustrated waiting on occasion! I'm a decisive person, though.  I know what I want and make decisions quickly, I don't hem and haw over little details.

We were engaged in May of '09 and married in July of '10.  We probably took about a year to plan everything.  I liked having plenty of time to check out many venues, do research, complete a few DIY crafts, etc.

I was planning my wedding before we even got engaged. But as far as "serious" planning, like actually choosing a date and booking a venue, it was about twelve months before our date.

We got engaged Christmas 08 and married Jan 11, so just over 2 years, but no way did I plan the entire time. We skipped on like 5 months near the end because we were frantically home searching and then doing a lot of foundation work for our new home, so the end was still a scramble.

It's probably going to take me a total of 3 months. I'm practically done now, and I started in January. But my venue includes almost everything. And I delegated some tasks to my mom and mother in law. I just want to be done with everything.

Well, we've been together for 7 years and finally decided to get married in 2012.  I started planning last June!  Soooo, two around 2 years is how long I've got to get it done in.  15 months or so now.

Most of it will be done this summer, obviously, but I've already done mock-ups and test trials of a bunch of things.  and I figure I'll be doing tutorials as I do some of it.  The major things like photographer and videography are taken care of, cause we've got friends who'll do it for us as a gift.  (ok, I admit we're paying for the film and making sure everything is charged that day...)

We had 8 months. We didn't want to wait a super long time, and 8 months later was near our anniversary, so we chose then.

We were engaged for 9 months, and I probably planned for 7 months. I never felt rushed or stressed and our wedding was fairly large with around 250 guests.
