lolot:  I can’t answer your poll because I started charting after ttc (5 months into ttc) but I wish I had started earlier.  One question for you would be, when are you going off birth control or are you already?  It can take up to 6 months for your body to regulate itself coming off birth control so it may throw your cycles outta wack.  Charting prior to ttc can show how your cycle is evolving.

We’re also planning to start trying next summer, although we’ve talked about this summer. If we still with the orginal plan thouhg I’m planning to stop taking BC in January and start until we start trying in the summer.

lolot:  I’m getting on a bit too (32!) and we hope to have a baby in a year or so. However, I don’t want to wait months before trying and then have issues (I have PCOS) Since a baby now would not be a disaster, we’ve decided to just stop BC and see what happens. If there’s nothing within the next six months or so I’ll try charting. I don’t want it to be all about baby making though, I think it puts too much pressure  on the couple.

I started TTC in April last year, but I started charting in January.  I found it very useful when it came time to TTC because I knew my cycle and could easily predict the days we needed to BD.

lolot:  I started in February and we started TTC in July. That being said, all I did was record when I got my period, on a little calendar I kept by the bed. No temps or apps or anything. When we started actually TTC I would sometimes check my cervical position and mucous. The month we got pregnant (October) I used an OPK bbut didn’t follow the directions that well and didn’t get a true positive, but obviously I ovulated since I got pregnant and am now 7 months along.

BTW I was 31 when we started trying, I’m 32 now.

lolot:  I started temping in January and we are TTC In May (in a week woohooo!!!) I am very glad we started 5 months in advance; honestly maybe I would start charting 6 months before… it’s freaking fascinating and can pinpoint issues you might have (though it’s not a perfect system; you can have a thermal shift and not ovulate)

I started on wondfo OPKs (from amazon.com) last month and they are kind of a lot of work- holding your pee for a while, stressing about the stupid line, buying plastic cuts (bad for the environment!!) but I am glad I am using them.

Yay for joining the charting club eventually.

I’m also 30. No spring chicken but my doctor has reassured me it’s no big deal (“but 40 is a big deal” she says).

I don’t think ill chart at all, seems like an extra unnecessary expense. I’d rather try for a bit and see how it goes!

lolot:  I assumed that was where you stuck the thermometer too! Lol. I’m going to guess it goes in your mouth rather than some other orfice.

I use the fertility friend app for my phone but I’m not really diligent with putting in all the details. It’s almost like a period tracker. But, hey, at least I’m in the habit of doing something!

I went off the pill and started charting/temping the next day ( which started my new cycle).  On BC I didn’t really see the point in temping, so I just kept track of sexy time.  My AF came back as schedule, but that cycle was a little weird, but the next was better, and this cycle better still.

As for age, you’re still good!  I’m 37 and I’m just now getting around to it….. 🙂

My DH and I are planning on starting summer 2015 too. I just started charting a little over 3 weeks ago, so it will be about 14ish months. I was tire dof being on BCP and all of the side effects so we are trying this.
