Here is me being nosy. How long were you together before the engagement? And how long is your engagement going to be?
We are a very non-traditional couple, lol, Josh and me. We got together on August 13th and were living together after the Mayhem Fest heavy metal concert on the 15th. We are living together now, and he proposed after 3 months of dating, on November 16th. But we have decided that we are going to have a long engagement, so there are no surprises, and we will know everything that we will possibly ever want to know about each other by the time the day of the wedding rolls around, in 2013.
We were dating for almost 2.5 years when he proposed, about 3 months after we moved in together. Our engagement is going to be about 22 months, because 2010 is insanely busy for us!
We had dated for just over 2 1/2 years when R proposed. We spent the first 9 months in a long distance relationship, then I (thankfully) moved back. We got engaged Jan of 2009 and are getting married on August 28, 2010.
We dated about 2 years before we got engaged and then we had a 3 year engagement! I love that you two are having a longer engagement so that you can make sure that it is right!
We dated since middle school off and on...but we were living together for about 2 years before he proposed and our engagement is going to be 15 months.
We dated five years, our anniversary was 2 weeks before he proposed. We will be engaged for 8 months by the time we get married in March. Funny thing was he had always talked about having a long engagement and I would have liked a short one, when it really came to deciding he was the opposite, so that was a nice surprise.
My hubby and I have lived together since the day we met (long story but we basically started out as roommates) but he didn't propose until we had been together for about 3.5 years.

I moved in with him 2 mos before the wedding.
no engagement yet but weve been dating about a year and three months. itll probably be another year or two before we get engaged. i want a longer engagement since im the type of person thats stressed easily and likes to plan everything out.
Dated for a year, we've been engaged for 1.5 years now. I was moving across the country for him, so I wanted a commitment.
Not engaged yet...haha but we will most likely be engaged at the 1 and a half year mark...and have a 15 month engagement
We dated for five years before becoming engaged, and will be engaged for almost two years by the time we marry! All together, seven years before marriage!
we dated for 5 months before we moved in together, 6 months later we were engaged. we're having a year engagement, exactly.
We were together for 2 years and a few weeks before we got engaged. We had a 3 month engagement! I didn't want a huge wedding, so it worked out great. 25 guests!
We dated 4 years before getting engaged, and our engagement will last 2 years before we're married.
It seems the average is between 2 to 3 years, I guess you know when you know, and to those that aren't engaged yet, good luck! To those that are engaged or recently married, congratulations!
We dated for a year and got engaged 10 days before our one year anniversary. Fast yes, but i wouldve married him 10 days after we started dating. I just knew.
We've been together just over 3 years (Sept 2006) and got engaged on October 31st 2009 so just over 3 years and the wedding is in July.

Together about 6 or 7 months when we decided we were getting married. I don't have a ring yet, so I don't consider us "engaged." He needs to put a ring on it before he can claim it like that. Or me claim him for that matter. LOL!!! Seriously though, we'll likely be together about 1 year when I get the ring. It might be Xmas or NYE.
We knew we were going to get married after about two months of dating and we knew about when after months. We didn't get engaged until we were together 13 1/2 months and we will get married after 21 months from when we had our first date. We are both in our 30's and just knew what we wanted.
We started "seeing each other" - (ahem) - in March of 2007. On June 3rd of that year he told me he was in love with me and wanted us to officially be in a committed relationship. We got engaged on October 18th of 2009 and are getting married Sept. 5, 2010.
We still don't live together - we actually live across the street from each other. My lease is up in July - and I will either move in with him then, or *hopefully* we will find a house that we love between now and then.
Im close to Miss Pudding - we dated for almost 5 years before he proposed and got married 15 months later. The first 2.5 years of our relationship was long distance so we really took time being together when he finally moved back home. We also both started new jobs and were waiting until we were finacially ready to be married. We just talked about it the other day, we feel like we both "knew" and were ready about 3.5 years into the relationship. If we hadnt been long-distance for the first half of our relationship I think things wouldve been alot different!
We've been dating for 6 years and he is due to propose any day now! :)
He started an "engagement ring savings account" after our first week of dating. We dated 3.5 years before we got engaged (we are not good savers!). We will be engaged 14 months and one day when we are married!
I'm exhausted just writing it :) haha
My FH and I were together just shy of five months before he proposed and we are planning a May 22 2010 wedding, that means 13 months from dating to marriage. We were high school sweethearts, we dated for three years, and went are separate ways for no real reason other than we thought we were too young for a long term relationship or marriage. After 10 years we literally bumped into each other at a bar in town and have been inseparable since then.
@ phedre- it'll come, trust me!!! we dated for 6 years and our engagement is just shy of 1 year.
We had been together a lil' under 3 years by the time we had gotten together, although we pretty much had dealt with half the hardships one would in a lifetime during those 3 years. Made us stronger (and seem like we were together much longer!).
6 years. The day we came back from our honeymoon was our 7 year anniversary.
we had dated for 4 1/2 years and it will be 6 1/2 when we marry in May! Hooray! I don't think there is a "perfect" amount of time- what ever feels right to you :)
we were together 7 years when we got engaged, and we'll be together a litttle over 8 years by the time we get married (I hope)
We started dating, bought a house 4 months later, and engaged a year after that. So 1 year and 4 months before we were engaged. It was love at first sight. Our engagement was 9 months. So we did it all 2 years! <3

We dated over 2.5 years before getting engaged. Our engagement is about 18 months long, and we'll have been together over 4 years by the time we tie the knot! :)
We dated for about 2 - 3 months before we moved in together and got engaged about a year after we started dating.
We had an 8 1/2 month engagement - so we were about 2 - 3 months shy of knowing eachother for 2 years when we got married.
