So far it’s been almost 6 months… -_- However, he’s been asking me what kind of ring I want since the first month of our relationship, so in that case.. over a year and a half?

WarrenWE:  We looked in the beginning of October and we got engaged in the beginning of December. Theres a good chance that he may already have your ring and is waiting until Thanksgiving. Good Luck! 🙂

Ex bought a ring and never proposed 🙂  That’s just the outlier though.  If he doesn’t want to look anymore seems likely he already bought something or is in the process.  Seems like a good chance your guy will propose late this fall.

amberback: Wow, 2 years!!  You’re tough.  I don’t think I will ever understand the things that must have gone through my ex’s mind through buying a ring and then leaving it in the box and never proposing.  But I met someone new and I’m happier now than I ever thought I would be.

Around 6-7 months for me, he didn’t buy the ring til month 6 after looking but he only had the ring for 1 day before proposing because once he had it he couldn’t wait!

Maybe two weeks. It wasn’t THE ring he wanted to give me, but I don’t care 🙂

Maybe he is just sick of looking at rings! It is not usually as fun for the guys as it is for the girls. We looked at rings for almost a year, but it was very spaced out. Went a few times last summer, once over the holidays, and then once again in February when he purchased a ring. We got engaged in April so a few months later from the date he purchased to the time we were engaged. Is there a reason you need to keep looking for rings? If he knows what you want, I would recommend backing off engagement/ring talk and let him do his thing.

WarrenWE:  The very first time we looked at rings was in December about a year before my proposal. My FI took me to three stores that she chose and had them bring out styles that she had previously researched and picked. I guess she wanted to get an idea of how things looked, what I like and of course my ring size. She asked my mom’s permission months later at thanksgiving and we then went back to the jeweler. This time was different than my first visit. She had done a lot of research on diamonds in the mean time, had chosen a setting and was looking at center diamonds. She just wanted to be sure that I liked the setting that she chose. Of course I did! Two months after that, the ring was on my finger 🙂

I had always browsed online, but we went to a store on a Friday. I tried some of the styles on that I had liked online – but unfortunately the one I really liked was WAY more than what I wanted him to spend.

He proposed 2 weeks later, and had bough the ring a week and a half after we had gone and looked. I honestly didn’t think it would happen until a few MONTHS later.

We looked ONE TIME while visiting family in Winnipeg. I found one I absolutely loved and he made me go into Bath and Body Works while he stayed at the store. I wasn’t sure what he was doing but it turned out that he bought the ring but left it at the store.

Over the next three days we looked at four or five other places and I kept going back to that store to look at the ring. Everytime we went back he had to secretly call them and tell them to put the ring back in the display case!

I finally decided that I wanted that ring but I had no idea if he’d bought it or not. He went back to the store and picked it up on his last day in town and then flew home while I stayed with family. After I got back it was just over a month until he proposed. Poor guy… I kept thinking it was going to happen and it didn’t! On our anniversary I was convinced he was going to do it and when he didn’t I started to cry – which is so ridiculous!

When he finally did it he organized a dinner all on his own, which made me super suspicious. But he threw me off by giving me ruby earrings. I still knew he was going to do it though because after dinner he made me walk to a random bridge.

If I could say anything it would be STOP THINKING ABOUT IT! Because it will ruin the surprise! Just relax and enjoy this time 🙂 Everything will work out!!
