I got married July 9, and got our disks and album back at the beginning of Sept. That seems a little long. What did it say the timeline would be in your contract? Doesn't seem like a good sign that they're not responding to you.
Woah, we got our proofs 3 weeks after, and our photog is on the newer end of the wedding game! Plus I know she had another couple of shoots between the wedding and when she put our pictures up, so she obviously made it a priority (which we sincerely appreciate!).
Did your photographer give you an estimate on time? We wrote a time estimate into our contract before we signed, plus she verbally confirmed that time frame to my husband's dad at the wedding.
I'm also curious, did your photog give you a timeline? Our contract with her stated that we'd get online proofs within 6 weeks and the hi-res DVD within 8. She delivered exactly on time, despite being wicked busy. We got married on 9/5, got a preview slideshow within 48 hours, got the proofs online on Oct 15, and just got our DVD this past Wednesday. If I were you, I'd definitely be irritated -- that is quite a long time, in my opinion. I'll echo what the others said -- did your contract give a timeline?
I think 12 weeks is at the upper limit of reasonable. I think our contract states 8-12 weeks. I'd be more annoyed that he isn't getting back to you.
Being able to get 90 pics done in 2 days is....crazy. Are they edited? Or just slapped up on their FB account? Any way you slice it, they should be getting back to you about a time frame. From the 10 threads like this I see a week, I think getting a timeline in writing is the #1 question we aren't asking as brides! This is the busiest time of year for a lot of photogs, but that seriously doesn't excuse not having photos from multiple months ago released to clients.
2 days for me!! We got married in MX on a Wednesday, did our TTD on Thursday and our photog met us at the airport on Saturday with about 130 edited/retouched prints + all pics taken on DVD. Had the slide show waiting for me via email when we got home on Saturday too :)
This post is making me feel better about my pics! My contract says I will have my proofs within a month. It has only been three weeks now, but I was a little bummed to not have mine yet because it looks like my photographer generally gets proofs up within 2 weeks (why yes, I have been stalking his website!).
I would be calling them! I doubt there is anything wrong with them but they need to get them done and get them to you! That seems like way too long. We got ours around 4 or 5 weeks after the wedding.
Our photog told us 6 weeks.... I'm patiently (or not-so-patiently) waiting... (with no sneak peek pics)
Try communicate with him via FB and/or email - maybe they'll be more prompt answering that way.
we got married on 9/18, had our online proofs 10/18, and will have our cd/dvd hopefully by 11/18.
Everyone is different. Check your contract, it should have a delivery time on it. If it doesn't, then you should have asked for one to be on it because without one, you are at your photographer's mercy.
ours took about 6 weeks for them to send us our proofs on a CD but he orignally said 3 to 4 weeks. He did tell me he was very backed up when he told me 3 to 4 weeks so I wasn't expecting it back that fast.
We got our proofs a little less than 2 weeks after our wedding and our album proof about three and a half weeks after the wedding.
Thanks for the replies everyone... our contract says 6 weeks. This weekend it will be 15 weeks. I've called 3 times in the last two weeks and have heard nothing back. I wouldn't necessairly mind waiting this long, I know the summer is a busy time, it's just the fact that he hasn't contacted us to let us know anything either way.
When do I start threatening legal action?
Pretty much, as soon as I get my pictures, I'll be writing an honest review for him online on several wedding websites. My review: gorgeous pictures, horrible service.
Ugh, I'm so frustrated! I just went back to look at my preview and I love the pictures so much and I'm so angry at him right now! I just sent off an email.
If anyone wants to check out my 99 photo preview http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/album.php?aid=233412&id=99234350451
I've had a friend that had to wait 4-5 months to get everything back. They got married in peak wedding season, and the time was on within their contract. Still, they should of responded to your calls...

Our wedding was on July 24th and our photog updated his facebook with about 90 teaser pics 2 days later, but we haven't heard ANYTHING from him since. I've called him twice in the last 2 weeks and haven't heard anything back.
Should I be upset (other than the whole not getting back to me thing) or are other July brides waiting for their pictures?
