Well, I’m going to disappoint. Mine bought the ring in Feb…still waiting. Could be waiting until Novemeber of 2014.

@FutureMrsM87:  FI had the ring for 9 days. He had plans to propose in a beautiful rose garden, but people kept coming in at awkward intervals so he didn’t feel comfortable proposing there. Fortunately for me, he had gotten it in his head when he woke up that morning that he would propose that day. He ended up proposing that night in our apartment–a little conversation morphed into a proposal, and he even got down on one knee. I know he was disappointed that he didn’t get to do his plans, but for me it was perfect! (I made sure to let him know, too, so he wouldn’t feel bad)

We’ve had the ring since mid-June and he’s “planning something.” It’s really irritating, and I would much rather have a simple proposal at home in Pjs than an extravagant one in another month.

He had a particular weekend in mind, a particular location that was only going to be open that weekend, so he had the ring for many many months– maybe 3-4?

He purchased the ring in January of 2012 but had to wait for it to come in. He picked it up the day it came in and couldn’t even wait to propose the way he’d planned and did so within 2 hours of picking up the ring.

As for how he proposed, I suggested we go out for coffee since I was bored (not knowing he’d even purchased the ring, much less HAD it) and then go for a walk since it was nice out. I grabbed my camera so we could take some outfit pictures for my blog, got our coffee, jumped on the trails through the city, and found a nice place for pictures. He took a few, then put down the camera and started to take off his gloves, so I was fussing with my jacket, and he pulled the ring out!

He bought the ring in October/November. Found a diamond in 1-2 months, then proposed at the end of March. So 6 months from actual purchase. That being said we has picked out the ring 3 years or so prior. :

@FutureMrsM87:  He bought the ring about 1 week before he proposed, but he picked out the ring about 1 month before.

My FI proposed on our 9 year anniversary. We took a 3 day trip to Durango, CO (a small mountain town) and during a train ride through the mountains he proposed.

The entire day before he proposed was mildly awkward because he was a little anxious and kept wanting to sit down on random benches or go for walks in pretty parts of the town. I am not sure if he couldn’t decide when to do it or if he was trying to throw me off. I had a feeling he had the ring, so I was anxious too. He finally popped the question when we were taking in the mountain views on the train. It was a beautiful backdrop. He didn’t get down on one knee (the train ride itself was fairly shaky/unstable), but the simple question of “Will you marry me?” was enough 🙂

@FutureMrsM87: Bought the ring in Feb, proposed in August. I wasn’t waiting because I had no idea he was that close. I was just hoping he’d propose before I turned 25, and he did it before I hit 24.

@FutureMrsM87:  the crappy part is that I was wearing my ring for almost a month but then decided to put it back in the box until proposal time, and now he’s sad that I’m not “practice wearing” it anymore since he likes when I wear it. Ummmmmm hello……….then propose ya big dummy.

@FutureMrsM87:  Aww, sorry things didn’t work out on your trip.. Cute he wants it to be perfect though but I get the waiting is hard.  We had a trip planned to Bermuda and I thought he might do it then but I had no idea whether he had a ring or not.  He had planned the whole thing (his dad used to live there so he knew all the good places to eat/ things to see etc) and the first night we had reservations to eat at tables on the beach, with sand under our toes.  It had torches for ambiance and I thought that would be the night.  I was a bit disappointed when he didn’t ask and I figured I had been all wrong about this trip being for a proposal.  Then the next morning he caught me completely off guard and proposed while we were at the top of the lighthouse taking pictures of the scenery.  It worked out great, the lighthouse had a gift shop so after we went there and bought fridge magnet picture frames to send our families and put the picture of the two of us at the top newly engaged in them.  I had been so focused on it happening at a nice dinner out I never thought it might be during the day!  Makes it all the more memorable though when you are caught off guard.  Sounds like yours is coming soon!
