We got 4 discs of our pictures by the time we came back from our honeymoon.  We got married on the 7th and came back from our 1st honeymoon on the 16th.  And the pics were waiting for us at home.

We were married two and half weeks ago (Princeton bride we're almost date twins, mine was 8/28/09) and we don't have ours yet. When I talked to the photographer at the beginning of last week she said we should have them by this Friday. We'll see!!! I'm super excited.

Oh, one more viewpoint: my friend was married May 30th and she got her photos back at the end of August.

It took about 8-9 weeks until we got to see our client proofs! I begged for 5 pics of us to do shutterfly pics of--those took about a month. Our proofs were supposed to be up within 2 weeks of the wedding. Ummmmmm. noooooo they weren't.

It'll be 12 weeks by the time we see a draft of the album. I hate waiting!

I was feeling totally patient until they sent me a dozen teasers.  The next two weeks were unbearable, but I think we had them in about 4 or 5 weeks.

another question - how many edited photos are you all getting with your package? we had 3.5 photographers (one was there only for the ceremony, the other 3 for everything) and we're getting all the pictures, but about 120 edited.

Princeton bride - how "edited" do you mean by edited?? Our photogapher's process is this:

    - run through and remove "bad" photos

    - apply batch adjustments (color, tone, shadows) to the remaining photos

    - fine tune the really good photos (cropping, more thorough color balancing, small blemish removal, maybe playing with filters)

    - deeply edit 2 or 3  of the best images, usually the portraits (complete blemish removal, skin softening, eye brightening, teeth whitening, perfect color and contrast, etc.) she will also maybe run these through different effects/filters so even thought it's only 3 images we might end up with 12 or so photos

So according to her we should end up with a disc that has around 400-600 photos on it (4.5 hours, no reception coverage) that are slightly edited, 100 or so photos that are more fine tuned, and then the two or three photos that are perfected.

If you're only getting 120 photos total from 3.5 photographers I'd consider that a rip-off. If you're getting 1000+ rougher photos and then 120 nicely edited photos that would seem fair.

FutureMrs.Duff - thanks. We are getting 1000+ rougher photos and 120 nicely edited.  So I think we're OK.

Mine usually take about 5 weeks ( I'm a photographer ) .    I'm thinking of pushing my turnaround to 3 weeks though.      I'm assuming that would be a GOOD thing for my business,    but I do send a copy to my graphic artist who does most the editing.    He does such a great job that I think 3 weeks is the minimum turnaround time we could do working as a team.       What do you think?    3 weeks is much better than 5 right ?

I waited eight weeks and three days. TORTURE.  They were worth it in the end, but I was getting mighty peeved waiting for them.

We had the photographer for nearly twelve hours on the wedding day (we took pictures for nearly three hours before the ceremony even started) and ended up with about 2,400 edited pictures in our online gallery.  The number of pictures he took was staggering and editing them all took a lot of time, which is part of the reason for the wait.

Like I said, they were worth it :)  I'm not sure how to post links on here but I'll try to post the link to a small facebook album of them <span style="font-size: 13px; font-weight: bold; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px;">http://tinyurl.com/l52n8k

I'm a photographer, so the wait was even worse.  I swear to my clients that I will NEVER make them wait that long for their pictures.  I average about a two and a half week turnaround, which I think is pretty reasonable.  I also do a sneak peek blog post the day after the wedding so the couple will have SOMETHING to look at and get excited about :)

Today marks 11 weeks for us. No proofs, not even 1 teaser. And no apoloy from the photographer yet, either. Except that he's "terribly behind". But no "i'm sorry" offered

Our wedding was August 22nd and we are STILL waiting.  We got 3 pictures to choose from for TY Notes and thats it.

I've been stalking her website and stalking the couples who's pictures have been recently been posted, the ones that just got posted got married a month before us.  I guess that means we'll be waiting another month!

We have several aspiring photographer friends who posted pictures right away so that kept me satisified for a while but now I'm getting impatient!

Check your contract - your photographer should give you a timeline, and that usually buffers in a little extra time in case they are absolutely swamped (aka during the  height of wedding season), so hopefully they will get them to you sooner than what it says. Mr. S has 8 weeks in his contract (I believe), but it usually ends up only being 4-5 weeks.

Also, it may vary if you are working with a studio with a lot of staff vs. an independent photographer who does all of the editing him/herself.

I think ours took around 4-5 weeks, and that seemed about right to us. It does feel awful waiting, but definitely worth it in the end!

I"m still waiting and its been 3.5 weeks. but he did say that they will at least be online to view by the end of this week.  I'm hoping to choose our fav for ty cards out of the online proofs and have him send that to me first so I can get those done before christmas, or they might double as our xmas cards
