I would say unless you are having an overly religious wedding, like a Catholic Mass, most ceremonies hit around the 20-25 minute mark.

Civil ceremonies are pretty short.  I'm think our ceremony will probably be 15 minutes.  The last church ceremony we went to was Catholic, and lasted 45 minutes-1 hour.

ours is a christian ceremony (baptist and catholic) and we arent having any singing - just one organ solo for ave maria... and clocked it at about 30 minutes....

Ours was right around 30 minutes including the entire processional.  My cousin currently holds the family record at 8 minutes flat!  I wanted to challenge it but that wasn't happening with 6 bridesmaids to send down the aisle : )

My ceremony was 20 minutes with the processional and recessional.

the last one i went to was around 20 minutes, maybe 25.  that included the processional with about 3 or 4 bridesmaids.  the groom and bride did their own vows so i think that helped to extend it otherwise i'm sure it wouldn't have been longer than 15 minutes.

Mine will be about 25 minutes, but I was at a wedding last summer that took about 7 minutes. :)

Most ceremonies I have been to have been about 45 minutes to an hour long. I always thought that was like normal, but most of the people here seem to think differently lol!

There is no "one size fits all" time since every wedding is different. Generally religious ceremonies last 30-90 mins, depending on what all is included. Nonreligious ceremonies can last anywhere from 5 mins to 30 mins. Most guests start to get antsy around the 30 min mark, but that doesn't mean they don't want to be there. The above listed times do not include the walk down the aisle.

We're short and sweet, 11 minutes! LOL! We wanted shorter but our officiant was concerned we wouldn't be creating "lasting memories". Isn't my marriage the lasting memory?!

Ours was around 15 minutes. But then again, all my hubby and I said was "I do". The officant did all the talking.

I don't think ours was any longer than 10-15 minutes, if even that.

I'm worried that our ceremony will be super short too, because we're not having a religious ceremony or writing our own vows, but I'm hoping it will last at least 15 mins.

I am having a full Catholic mass, so it will be about an hour, but there are so many things that are important to us, we really can't cut anything out.

We're aiming for 20 minutes or less. We've got the processional, our friend will say a few words, we're going to do communion while MOH/BM sing, say vows (traditional + own), pronouncement and the kiss. Then we'll recess and have a sort of optional recieving line to satisfy the old people.

If we're not at the reception (which is about eight minutes walking from the ceremony) by an hour after the ceremony starts, I'll be shocked.

So the longest I've been to was about 2 hours. The shortest I've been to was about 15 minutes.

You all are cracking me up! I was trying to stretch mine out instead of making it shorter. I was aiming for about 30 min. but it looks like I'm at 20 min. tops. I just wanted to make sure it was personal and memorable for us and our guests. Sounds like I'm right at the normal mark for a non-religious ceremony though so I'll stop worrying. ;)

Ours will probably be about 15 minutes total with processional included. We timed it the other night and with FI reading it fairly slowly as long as us having some inserted conversation it was 10 minutes almost exactly! So we figure with people walking in it will be a little more. I hope people dont think its too long!

@Encore: Really? I personally HATE sitting through wedding ceremonies, so we knew we wanted ours to be short. No one remembers all the readings and special music and junk anyway, besides the bride and groom and MAYBE their parents. We'd rather just write stuff in our album and skip having it read aloud, haha.
