My fiance and I both have large families and a 16 person bridal party. I was wondering how long we need to have set aside for photographs being taken? Would a hour be enough, or should we do a hour and a half? We have a few eldery family members that will be included in the photos.
Another question we have.. is a hour and a half too long for a Cocktail hour? We are having our cocktail before the ceremony and want to make sure that the guests are busy until the ceremony starts especially if our officiant is late to the venue.
Thanks.. and I never realized how much work goes into wedding planning-LOL

An hour and a half is the min. I’m only have a 50 guest wedding and we will be over an hour. As long as your cocktail hour isn’t 3hrs long, you should be fine.

Agreed…you need at least 1.5hrs, and preferably without too much travel. You will need to do your family, his family, any crossover photos you want (his parents, you two, your parents together etc), all the bridal party together AND the bride and groom formals. Also, factor in time to do the guys and/or girls if either wasn’t photographed before the wedding.
Finally, if you do have to travel anywhere, count an extra 5-10 minutes every time you have to get in/out of a vehicle to move. The bigger the wedding party, the longer it takes to get everyone in the vehicle. 🙂

For you I think 1.5 should be your min. because you have so many people you need to take pictures with. Me and my FI are only doing an hour, but we have a small bridal party, and not too much family. So an hour was perfect for us.
