I can’tstand the repetitive music.  For example, last week I was on hold waiting to connect to a conference call and the other people were late joinging…. the music was an instrumental version of “Proud” by Heather Small however the section it kep playing had a few mistimings compared to the original and kept annoying me, lol.

I do however work at a call centre and am always polite to those who come through because unfortunately we do not know how long the callers have been waiting.

This depends what I’m calling about… if its something quick like your question, about 5 minutes. I can stand it for longer if it’s something really important or if I expect the wait.

At the 10 minute mark is where I get super angry, and unless it’s a dire issue, I will hang up.

@sunkissed19:  It depends. If I have already spoken to actual person and they put me on hold, I will usually be okay for about 2-3 minutes.  If it’s an automated service I have figured out to put them on speaker phone and then go about my business until an actual person picks up.

My ire raises in direct correlation to how frequently the hold music is interrupted to tell me to keep holding and that someone will be with me shortly.

I get upset after like 2 minutes, but I’m also pretty impatient, hah. I’ve been having to hold A LOT lately because I’m dealing with immigration stuff for my SO, so it’s been testing me!

I usually put my phone on speaker and wait for someone to pick up on the other end. Otherwise after about five minutes I’m annoyed.

I don’t wait long. I have switched providers based on their inability to answer the phone. Too long and circuitous an automated menu will do it too. Send me on a wild goose chase once, find my services moved to another provider.

It depends on what I’m calling for. If I’m on a time limit, I’ll wait 10 minutes. If I’m not, and it’s important, I’ll wait as long as it’s needed. I usually put the phone on speaker phone and play video games or do something else.
