I'd probably wait until about 2 or 3 days before, just to be on the safe side.
they don't go bad or stale per ce, but they get less squishy if they conainter isn't air tight and much less enjoyable as a result, so hold off if you can! However, we've had gummies open in a bag were still soft after a week (they were gone before they started to firm up). Can you do a trial?

I just lvoe me some gummie candies especially swedish fish. i notice they can dry out and get a little hard on the outside though. almost crusty but not quite. Sometimes i like them chewier though =]
swedish fish are a fetish, lemme tell ya
It depends a lot on your weather as to when they would dry out or become uber gummie. Id get the boxes ready to go and then in the few days prior - dole out the gummys!

I have tons of gummy candy (penguins and frogs to be exact) to put in my 2x2x2x favor boxes. When is the best time to do this? Can they go bad/stale?
