Depends on the person working on the ring and how much detail there is to it. Each person's experience is different. I'd expect at least 1- 2 months maybe.
to actually make a ring like a day. My uncle is a jeweller and when we were talking about the wedding bands i was worried he wouldn't have enough time to make them (it was 3months before the wedding) and he was like, to actually make the ring would be 1day. So i guess it just depends on the time and how busy they are.
@KaitlinHudson: I couldnt wait that much longer! lol
@Baby_PebbleS: I just noticed your from Brisbane - its coming from the local Showcase Jewellers so fingers crossed they are not to busy at the moment!!
well our rings came from NZ where i'm orginally from and where most of my family still are. My Nana came over the thursday before our wedding and had the rings with her. I had already seen the pictures of it made and ready and was sooooo excited when my nana arrived lol.
I'll see if i have a picture of my rings
@Baby_PebbleS: Your very lucky to have a jeweller in the family!! Im so excited about it all - I just want it to be official so I can talk about it with everyone (family/friends etc) but all these bees here have been a huge help!
Ok... first picture is my engagement ring on its own.
second picture is the picture my uncle emailed me when our wedding bands were complete (there is only one of my ring, he just took two photos of it)
and third is a picture of my engagement and wedding rings together YAY!
no i uploaded three.... it's showing three on my end
@Baby_PebbleS: What a fabulous set!! That is one of the most unique and beautiful rings I've seen in awhile!
I had all of my rings custom made. They each took a different amount of time as two of them were from scratch so those needed cast modling. After they created the cast molding they then created a wax version of the ring and then from their we were able to make changes and tweak what we wanted. Two of my rings took about 6-9 weeks and then my wedding bands are simple rose gold bands that took about 4 days each
I think it depends what you're getting. If the ring always has a mold then it wouldn't take as long. If the ring is custom and you're starting from scratch then it might take longer....
I think it depends on how custom the ring is (do they have a mold they can use? or are they starting from scratch?). Mine is entirely custom and it took about 6 weeks to be completely finished.
Mine is a little different. My FH made my ring out of stainless steel and we later found out that we cannot add a stone. We had to custom design a totally new kind of , sort of wrap-lay over thing. We just got the ceramic mock up back, and that took two months. We were told that it would possibly take 2-4 more months to get it finished.
@Baby_PebbleS: They are there now (stupid old computer! lol). They are gorgeous! I love how they match and intertwine with each other!
Thanks for your stories. Hopefully Im not waiting too much longer now!! I dont think it will be too custom or from scratch will have to wait and see!
you never know... he might already have it and is just waiting for the perfect moment :)
@Baby_PebbleS: Sorry to hijak the thread, but your nails look awesome in the last pic!
It all depends! I know that my ring was custom made but honestly I don't have a clue how long it took. Mine was a complete suprise.
I took about a month for our custom wedding bands to come in. But, that didn't involve any stones. I could see stone settings taking longer!
Mine took just under 3 weeks after he picked the stone - there was a delay b/c the jeweler had tried the original design and said it did not look good, so he remade it. Not much time at all.
it took longer than that to propose, though :)
@Sesame Snap: lol no worries!!
@Baby_PebbleS: The way he was talking last night I think that he may have it hidden somewhere else!!!
@snmell7 WOOOOOOOOO!!!
@Sesame Snap THANK YOU.. my cousin did them for me :) they were my wedding nails and my stepdaughter had white instead of pink
Gosh, my ring was custom made with a center stone and 14 tiny side stones and had a really intricate design, and it took about four days... But the jeweler worked out of his home and I don't think he had a ton of orders at the time or anything. I guess it just depends on their workload.

I asked a jeweler how long it would take to get the ring I like (a white gold ring) made into platinum and he told me 56 days! umm no thanks!
@laurenthesmall: Your ring is so pretty and really shows off the centre diamond!
@MissBuffalo: He must have been really busy!
I am suspicious that he already has it OR its at the jewellers to be picked up OR hes keeping it at the jewellers cos he knows Im a big snoop LOL.
We were talking the other night and I was telling him how long it takes to order and receive a wedding dress and hes like 6 months!!??? oh well then youll definitely be able to go shopping before Christmas! and then we started talking about venue etc again and I said I really doubt whether we can make a July 2011 wedding (winter here for me) since I cant plan anything until its official and hes like well its pretty much official and I wagged my ring finger and said no its not and hes like oh thats just a detail and then laughed his head off cos he knows how much its driving me nuts and then said just hang out just a little longer..... and changed the subject.
Ahhh hes driving me insane at the moment!
We have NO plans at all this weekend so maybe something will happen....but then he keeps talking about our week away (nothing too exciting) the week after next so Im suspicious about next Friday night (a week from today!!).
I'm so in love with your rings! My wedding set was custom made and it is yellow gold as well. Just out of curiosity, is yellow gold the most popular type of jewelry metal in Australia?
@SM1982: I think there is more of a move to white metals but yellow gold does seem to have a slight majority vote here (based on the people I know and proportion of white:yellow metals in jewellers. :)
My ring was custom made and it took a while - about two months. But that was for the design process AND construction so it might take less time if the design is already finalized.
My ring set took 4 weeks to complete. I was a nervous wreck, but in the end, it was really worth it because I had the rings made to the way i envisioned it.
@phedre: hehe walleee!! I love the geometricness (is that a word??) of your ring!
@TTLT2012: I have had no input into my ring at all - BF doesnt even know I found the receipt! I asked this question just to guage how long!!?? It will be 3 weeks on Monday so I think it would be ready/if not already hidden somewhere here in the house!

So I found a deposit receipt in my BFs drawer and after days of googling what was on the docket I think I have a fair idea of what my ring is going to look like...(attached - only a solitaire not princess as shown).
The receipt was dated 11 Oct....so how long until its ready?? Its being down a local family jeweller on the premises.
I hate going into the bedroom at the moment at the thought of it already being in there!!! And considering im at home a lot more than BF its taking a lot of effort to stay out of there...I really want a surprise and Im pretty sure its getting really close but ahhhhhhh!!
Im pretty sure that hes is only waiting for the ring to be ready! So how long is it gunna take!?
Any bees here get their ring custom made???
