I would recommend having your progesterone level tested. I spotted all through my first pregnancy and lost it at 8 weeks, my hcg was not rising properly and the baby did not grow on track, but I also believed my progesterone was low and never got it tested. This time around, my hcg was rising, things were measuring on track, but I started spotting at about 4w5d and had my progesterone level tested and it was low and dropping. They put me on suppositories for the first trimester and everything went fine from there. Spotting can be normal and nothing to worry about but progesterone is one thing that can be checked and supported if it is in fact an issue. There’s really no way to tell how long it will last for you as everyone is different.

DiamondnLovey:  I had my first visit last week at 6w1d and have had light spotting for the past week now.

I’m not even sure whether to be concerned or not because I’m not sure I even consider it spotting. About once a day or every other day, I get a tiny tiny amount of slightly brown/pink CM. This morning, I had white CM with a small trace of red.

I’m not sure whether to call the doctor about it or not since I have a visit with a new OB (had to change b/c of VBAC) next week.

It freaks me out, but sometimes I think I’m making a mountain out of a mole-hill since it’s such small trace amounts of spotting in my CM and only when I wipe.

I would request your HCG be tested to make sure it’s rising properly.

I too had spotting from the time I found out I was pregnant until about 8 weeks. Had first ultrasound at 6 w 3 d and heartrate was 97. Had another a week later and heartrate was 136. I also had betas tested and they were rising normally. When I gave birth to my son it was determined I had a small placenta, which the dr said might of caused the early spotting due to placenta not attaching quite right. However we don’t know for sure. My point is you can have spotting and a lower heartrate and everything be fine. Remember at 6 weeks heart is just beginning to beat.
