I plan on it being around 4 hours long (including cocktail hour).

5 and sometimes I wish I added the viennese hour to make it 6 since everyone says your wedding goes by too fast.

Ours was five hours, including cocktail hour. It you can go longer, I’d say do it! People were still partying when we had to shut down at 11–only a few of the older guests left before then.

1 hr for the ceremony and then the 7.5 hr reception follows right away (cocktails, dinner, live band plays from 8 till half past midnight), fireworks)

ceremony 2-3 bridal party limo picture taking 3-5 cocktail 430-530 dinner at 6 reception immediately following! we have our venue until midnight but were planning on ending it early around 1030/11ish just because people will probably be tired and or hungry again lol. and were having our limo return to take the party goers downtown to the bars!

so i guess with cocktail hour thats 430-1030 6 hours HOLY LONG TIME i never thought of it that way!

Mine was 4 hours.  I agree it felt SO SHORT since we were constantly being pulled away for pictures.  I wish we’d had another hour to dance or visit our guests.

Of course it was early in the day (2:00-6:00) so we had an after party at a GM/BM’s house.  Still, would’ve extended the reception if I could.

This is a very interesting post to me! I want mine to last longer, too. Right now we’re planning 4 hours, but that doesn’t seem like enough. I’d love 6 hours.  BUT…do you then have to feed them more? Have some kind of after dinner meal? And more drinks? Seems like an expensive two hours. Anyone have any experience/insight on this?
