We have been planning since February and I was proposed to at the end of August 🙂 We’re shooting for a September 2014 wedding, so I guess that’s about 20 months 🙂

I was engaged for about 11 months. The first month or two, I planned a lot. Then there really wasn’t anything to do, so I just looked on weddingbee 🙂 The two months before the wedding got busy again.

We had an eight month engagement, but I only seriously planned for 2 months in the beginning.

We got engaged in August, moved up our date in November, and got married in May!

So 5.5 months of actual planning.

It was about 11 months away when we booked the venue/date. We were fortunate enough there was a date available because they were starting to book into 2014 when we booked the wedding.

We got engaged last month and will be getting married in February – so 5 months total, and we only started planning after getting engaged. We’re 80% of the way done with planning but I think that’s less the norm and has more to do with the fact that I’m a wedding planner.

Actively planning it will total about 17 months. 🙂 Of course though, who hasn’t just sat there and day dreamed.

I think we booked the venue back in August and we’re marrying in December. Tiny wedding so not much to plan thankfully.

@renwoman:  5 month engagement over here! woo-hoo! Planning a really big celebration with about 300 people in Chicago and planned most of it in the first 2 months, as in looked for and found my dress within FOUR days of being engaged and put the deposit on it a week after, at the same time we booked our venue

Its been stressful but honestly I recommend it to all brides-to-be! Pack the stress into a small time frame, its’  totally manageable!

—and we got all the vendors / venues we really wanted so no sacrificing was made!

I’ve been engaged for 10 months… and our wedding is in 23 days! 🙂

but i’ve known people who’ve planned a wedding in weeks.
