I am finalizing my wedding timeline to send out to everyone and wondering how long dinner is? We're having a sit down dinner for 150 starting with a composed salad (heavier salad with grilled chicken) and then the entree. We were originally having salad, first course, second course but they said we could shave 45 mins off dinner for more dancing switching it to the heavier salad. Done.

Do you think an hour and 15 mins is a good estimate?

I put in an email to the wedding coordinator at the venue but curious what you all thought. Thanks for the input!

We're allowing for about an hour to an hour and fifteen for dinner but we are going to have a slight cushion either way in case we're wrong.

I'm budgeting about an hour right now, but I guess it really depends. It doesn't take me that long to eat, but I don't want to rush anyone else. I also want to make sure we have enough time for dancing.

I think it depends on the number of people.  More people = longer time to serve.

Thanks so much for the input thus far! Looks like I wasn't far off base.

I think it depends on how many guests you have and how dinner is being served. We only had 70 people and our buffet had two double sided stations. People got their food in a matter of minutes and immediately got to start eating. So, dinner for us was only about 45 mins. But I have been to big weddings with buffets that weren't double sided that took forevvvvvvvver to get served, so you'd want to allow extra time for that. We played our timeline by ear, and since our MC was one of our best friends and sitting at our dinner table, we got to clue him in as to when to do specific events.

I think an hour and a half would be a fair estimate.  Some people enjoy themselves and talk a lot, so they eat slowly.
