It takes me literally seven minutes to get to work. WITH TRAFFIC.
My fiance works two and a half hours away. That's on a good day. He gets up at 3 am for work!! I'm NOT happy to start married life like that!
I take public transit so it varies a lot! Anywhere from a half hour to an hour and a half.
currently 15-20 minutes on surface streets, but once I get married 45 minutes if there's no traffic. :\
I'm about 30-45 minutes, 60 if there's serious traffic. 20 miles.
LA...
40 min before six am on the way there
80 min before four pm on the way home
...looking forward to moving closer to work
I'm pretty lucky, for living in LA....its about 15 min in the morning, and 20-30 at night.
it's 7 miles. Which is a completely unpredictable amount of time in Dallas! It's been as short as 10 minutes to as long as an hour. I guess average is 30 mins.
I live literally 5 minutes from work. My office is located off the same major street as my home. I could not do a big commute... I am not a morning person.
less than five minutes :)
Work is 1.87 miles from home. Straight shot.
we both work at the same school and our commute is only 5-7 minutes. we can even go walking. the distance is less than a mile. we are lucky.
I live in Lakeview and actually work in Elgin. So it's 45 minutes on a good day, 1 1/2 hours on a nasty day.
(I don't commute every day, though, because I go to school here.)
My office is 17km (10 miles) from my house. It takes anywhere between 25 and 50 minutes on a regular basis. There's been quite a few days where it pushed an hour and a half, and a few where it took 2 hours due to snow.
I work downtown and it takes at LEAST 30minutes but the time I have to be at work is right when traffic is horrible most of the time it takes 45-50 minutes!!
I can't believe how many of you guys have just a 5-10 min commute! That's awesome; I'm totally jealous ;-).
i wish i could walk to work! that would be so awesome! :D
about 20-30mintues....depending for me
I am really lucky. My commute is less than a minute. I work from home :-)
It depends on which job i'm going to.
To one job it takes me about 35 min. To my other job it takes an hour.
well when i start subbing in the fall i'm hoping the schools won't be more than 40 min tops away...
I live in a completely different state than I work in, and get to take the Interstate bridge twice a day. Urrrrgggghhhh....
Mornings are about 30 minutes, and the drive home is a crapshoot. It can be 25 minutes if I leave EXACTLY at 5:00, or an hour if I leave at 5:04. Then there's the construction...
Lately I've been going to the gym before heading home so I don't sit in traffic.
20 minutes and its 18kms(10 miles) with traffic anywhere in my city takes usually 12 minutes to get from one side to the other. I travel out of the city for work, so its a bit longer than the rest. But if you call someone and say meet you in town in 20 minutes, its doable :)
30-45 minutes. I have also had to miss work during heavy rains because of road closures and accidents.
I don't work right now as most of you know :)
and my fiance' drives about 15-20 which is what I was driving a month or so back as well ;)
I chose to live in the city specifically so I could walk to work because I HATE commutes! I now have a 15 minute walk. It's more expensive to live in the city, but I sold my car. So that saves a ton of money each month (which goes toward housing...).
It takes me 45 minutes (Evanston to the Loop) on the metra and I love it! I used to drive 30 minutes to work at my last job, but taking the train is well worth the extra 15 minutes.

I started a new job today and it made me curious about how long everbody commutes. I live in the subrubs of Chicago so around here its really really common for people to drive at least an hour to work each day. (my drive would be 40 min, but its 60-90 min with traffic)
How long does it take you to get to work?
