I think my song is almost 5 mins. I didn't really consider making it shorter...should I? A part of me feels like, it's just 5 mins. I should take all the time I need.
Definately! I just feel incredibly awkward since neither of us know how to dance...so it could just be me wanting to not prolong it any more...
Ours is "The Night Will Go As Follows" by The Spill Canvas and it's... 5:13. Suuuuuper long, but we're going to ask our wedding party and family to join us half way through.
Ours is over 4 minutes and under 5. I love our song, so there is no way I'm cutting it down.
After my fiance and I picked our first song (Over the Rainbow/It's a Wonderful World by IZ) someone on the bee pointed out that our song was over 4 min long! Yikes! Did not consider this when we picked the song. However, we decided, we would keep the song and just invite the other guests to join in and dance along with us after our first few seconds/first min in the spotlight. This would work out perfect for us I think because we aren't planning on doing a formal reception and this would be the only opportunity for our guests to dance and no one can say we didn't have dancing at our wedding! lol. :)
I'm NOT a fan of having 100 guests watch 3 minutes of a bride and groom, swaying back and forth prom-style, so we've decided to take inspiration from Rock the Reception. We're starting with "The Way You Look Tonight," which scratches into "Thriller" (where we will be doing MJ choreography) and "Now That We've Found Love" (which was inspired by "Hitch"). At the very end, it scratches back to a few seconds of "The Way You Look Tonight" Since I have a dance background, we've decided on choreography. Mr. 5642 is totally psyched... he loves a good running man/roger rabbit dance solo.
It's a little over 3 minutes, but we're hoping that the variety and party approach will prevent anyone from getting bored ;)

We are doing Ben Harper's "Not Fire, Not Ice". There is a good cut off point at 1:47, otherwise it would be about 3:35. Im afraid the first option is too short, and the second too long. What do you think? What's a good lenght of time for the first dance song?
