Hi Bees! I’m trying to come up with a time line for our wedding and since I have not been to many weddings I am running into a few problems. How long is a “typical” ceremony- 20 30mins? We are having a non-denominational ceremony with no unity events, prayers, readings, ect. I have a small bridal party ( 1 flower girl and MOH) and will be waked down by my parents.

I would think 15-20 minutes would suffice for what you have… even if it’s shorter, it’s YOUR day and whatever you want to include (or not) is up to you– I wouldn’t worry about it ever being too short!

Not longer than 20 I would say, ours was more like 15, but we wanted to get on with the party as soon as possible 🙂

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
The ceremony for friends of ours lasted all of 5 minutes, so it can really be as short as you want it to. Ours was about 25 minutes, which seemed right for us.

I scheduled ours for 30 minutes. If its a bit shorter that’s okay but at least we have a good cushion. I would recommend making it at least 15-20 minutes long. Especially if the site is separate from the reception. As a guest I would feel jipped at a 5 minutes ceremony if I went to the trouble to get there. Give me a show! Entertain me! JK

I would say mine is going to be about 30-45 mins. I have 4 bridesmaids, 2 Maid/Matron of Honor, 5 groomsmen (the best man will be at the altar with the groom and officiant), 1 ring bearer, 2 Flower Girl, and I will be escorted down the aisle by both my parents. We are doing the mixing of the sand (the alternative to lighting the candles since the ceremony will be held outdoors). I want to be there for a bit. The ceremony is the most meaningful part to me.

I think my whole ceremony from the time the bridal party walks in, until my hubby and I walk out will probably be about a half hour. If that. We’re not doing any readings, or songs, or anything else either.
