@MrsWinTraining2014:  That would be stressfu!

Have you picked the dress?

Do they have the ordering information?

Have you given them an absolute deadline?

@MrsWinTraining2014:  Are you asking them to order a specific dress?  Find out from the designer what the lead time is.

@MrsWinTraining2014:  We are 5 months and 14 days out.  My MOH picked hers out but hasn’t ordered yet.  Going shopping with 2 bridesmaids this weekend.  I have 1 more to wrangle in.

@MrsWinTraining2014:  Oh, well then if they can get whatever they want, they can buy something off the rack.  They have plenty of time!  Don’t stress.

@MrsWinTraining2014:  As the pp has said, they can always buy something off the rack.

In this case, I’m not certain that a deadline is even necessary, except for the fact that it would help you to relax.

Are you not able to trust that they will eventually buy a dress?

@MrsWinTraining2014:  Honestly, I just would not stress about it.  I’d check in with them maybe two weeks beforehand?  They’re adults – they know what they need to do so hopefully you can trust them to buy a dress.

@MrsWinTraining2014:  I can see that you have reason to be concerned. The prom dress thing doesn’t concern me, but buying the wrong color for a BM dress is just direspectful.

I think if it would make you more comfortable, you can set some kind of a deadline. Say a month before your wedding, because you don’t need to be worrying about the dresses with other last minute details. Since they are buying off the wrack, no, it’s definately not to late and they definitely still have time. obviously this is more about your comfort than anything, and since its your day I think it’s ok to have some kind of set timeframe.

@MrsWinTraining2014:  I would normally say to let them do it on their own time line since they are grown ups, but the fact that they both have a history of being unable to purchase matching dresses changes things.  I would make sure they had their dress 2 months out – sure that rules out ordering couture, but they should be able to purchase something at David’s bridal at that time point.  If they can’t get a dress physically in their hands a month out, I would suggest they attend as guests if they really don’t want to obtain a matching dress.

I asked my girls to send me a pic of their dress and shoes by 1 month out at the latest Because it can be off the rack or something they already own.
