I am in the same boat.  I went ahead and ordered the 20” sparklers because the 36” ones looked SO long and IMO kind of silly.  That being said, when I lit one of the 20” sparklers that I bought and timed it, it only lasted for 1:12…which I don’t think is enough time.  I am going to go ahead and order two per guest so that way they can light the second one if their first one goes out.  My problem now is trying to decide how many people will actually stay until the end of the reception.

We bought the 36″ ones and I think it was worth it! Remember, not all your guests will stay til the end of the night, so you don’t have to buy 1/person. I think for our ~100 guests, we had 60 sparklers. They lasted over 5 minutes when we tested them.
