I'm just curious how long it took everyone?  We may begin trying soon so I'm curious for a cross-section of how long it took after you actively started TTC...

I was off the pill 2 weeks before the wedding to get my period the week before the wedding instead of during the wedding. We weren't exactly trying but we weren't exactly not trying either. We ended up getting preggie two weeks after the wedding.

I'm keeping my eye on this. We've been trying for almost a year and still no go.

The month after I went off BC I ended up on a project in Asia for work. We were pretty much never together at the right time, and to be honest, even if we were I doubt it would have happened with my body clock so incredibly screwed up.  It took about 3-4 months from when I finally returned home.

My friends (we are early 30s) have had a real range - two took 10-12 months and two got pregnant the first month they started! I seem to see one trend - vacation and alcohol (moderate!) seem to really help fertility :)

I went off hormonal bc in July, 2008.  We used condoms exclusively for a while, and then started using condoms and natural family planning (the sympto-thermal method) in March, 2009.  We decided to start trying to conceive in September, 2009, and got pregnant, literally, on our first try.  I really attribute our fast conception to having charted for a while before ttc.  Knowing your cycles/fertile periods is the best preparation for ttc.  :)

Good luck to all you bees ttc-ing!  I hope it goes well for you!

I was one of those who was told it was going to be a long hard road (if at all).  Our first month of "not not trying" (we didn't do the every other day thing or any of the other pro-conception tips that are suggested), we were successful.  I was doing some modified charting just so that I'd be really aware of my cycle.

I honestly believe that it could have taken much much longer, but we got really, really lucky!

I wish this poll also included ages.  i.e. "it took me 1 month AND I am over 30/35" Undecided
