It took my mom 2 years to get pregnant with my brother, and a year and half with me, does this mean I am doomed? haha. I am so impatient on this and I just want to know other people’s stories, or what other tricks have you done??

I don’t think so. It depends on so many factors. My mom had my sister and I easily, and then had secondary infertility and never conceived again. For me, as soon as we dtd during my fertile week, I was pregnant.
That’s why I think you have a good shot, and it really depends. It also depends, too, on if you were on bc, other health concerns, etc. Hopefully you’ll get it the first time!

KateriPetrie: not doomed…. my mom basically couldnt get pregnant no matter how hard they tried…then she ended up taking fertility drugs to have me. They said she had a super low chance of having a baby. She was 26…….I was 33 and I got pg our first month TTC (just turned 34 last week ha)! Currently 15w

It took a few months – our successful cycle was when I used OPK’s and we did the “sperm meets egg” system.. google it if you haven’t heard of it!

Not necessarily. It took my mom five years to get pregnant with me, in her twenties. I conceived on my first try at 32, had a miscarriage, tried again and got pregnant on the fifth cycle. Currently eight weeks and everything looks great. Your mom’s fertility struggles might mean you’ll have a more difficult time, but they also might not. You really never know until you start trying!

KateriPetrie: No. I was worried too because while my mom got pregnant very easily, she had a hard time keeping the babies and would miscarry after 12 weeks. She has endo though where as I don’t. Didn’t stop me from being concerned.

I don’t think there’s any way to know, but you’re definitely not doomed.

KateriPetrie: Nope. My Mother-In-Law got pregnant with my husband’s eldest brother off the bat. Took forever on the second one, and my husband was not a planned one (didn’t want to have them so close in age) so I think it’s really a matter of luck and chance.

KateriPetrie: my mom got pregnant pretty quickly with me and my brother, i am now in cycle 12. i wish i got pregnant as easily as my mom.

KateriPetrie: my mum got knocked up accidentally on the pill with me and the 2nd month TTC with my brother. I’m on cycle 21 and no baby so yep no correlation. I would only be concerned if it was due to something like pcos or endo and you inherited that. Thou that said BFF has pcos and it took 12 months for number one (2nd or 3rd cycle) and her 2nd was a drunken “mistake”. She was wanted but not for a few more months, they got drunk forgot to pull out and now I have a gorgeous 3yr old god daughter. Really you won’t know until you try.
i should also add – it also depends on your partner too as issues conceiving aren’t always on the female side.

I don’t think it’s genetic at all. My mom took a year but she was on hormonal BC before she got pregnant with me, so I think that affected it somewhat. It might take less for me – she didn’t chart or anything, or who knows.
