They recommend ordering your dress 9 months before your wedding coz it can take 6 months to come in and then they have to do any alterations if needed :-).

@nearly-mrs-R:  isn’t that also dependent on style? I know that some David’s bridal you can get faster.

@UKbee:  Go look and ask the salon what the latest is you can order and add a month. Then aim to get your dress around thAt time.

@nearly-mrs-R:  +1 You should prob order yours before March but I would be afraid of the dress I liked being discontinued or the shop deciding they don’t want to stock it any more. I am always paranoid that something will go wrong. Size-wise they can easily take a dress in 2 dress sizes to accommodate weight loss

I ordered mine in June and it has just arrived! (also UK bee)

I think it would depend on how much weight you mean by ‘quite a bit’. I wouldn’t imagine it would make that much difference. I don’t think any dress would look worse after losing weight but I could imagine there might be a few sillouettes that look better but if you love a dress it won’t really matter.

You just have to stop looking at dresses and don’t let yourself wonder ‘I wonder what it would look like on me’ (I have so far avoided dress regret)

@UKbee: Congrat!. I have no will power and I’m rather afraid mine will need to be take out after xmas weight gain :S

Have you looked in Monsoon? Theirs tend to be light and simple and you would be able to get one close to the wedding as they are off the rail.

They aren’t as exciting as the ones in bridal boutiques but I would have thought they would travel better and budget friendly

Hi there, i ordered mine 9 months before the wedding and I wish I had waited. I liked my dress but I regret it. I should have taken more time and really looked at myself before letting my excitment take over. I would wait about 6-7 months prior. Talk to the bridal stores around you. My sister in law purchased her dress from an expensive designer 4 months before so it all depends on the store/designer I think. Good luck xo

I reckon order now or in next couple months depending how long your dress will take to come (mine is 4 to 6 months) I’m getting married November 15 and ordered my dress about 2 weeks ago. Im hoping to loose a bit of weight as I have been put on a higher dose of medication for my low thyroid problems. I ordered the dress in the size I am now with a corset back so can be pulled in tighter. Or worst case the dress can be altered down up to 2 sizes. It’s better to buy a dress in the size soon for worst case scenario I reackon.
