It seems like the first question everyone asks you as soon as you get engaged is sooo… when is the wedding? I have not even been engaged a week and that is still the question of the moment. So my quesiton to you is how long before you set a date. We are planning to get married this year but just don’t know when. I am going to start looking at venues hoping that will help us to start to lock down the date that we would like to be married.

@radar: we had our date the day we got engaged lol. We already knew the venue and knew the propsal was coming, so we had contacted the venue already to see what available dates were.

We waited a couple weeks then set the date. Just keep telling people you are enjoying the excitement of being engaged!

We got engaged on 10/11/12 and we have still only set a tentative date. My FI may be getting a job out of state, so we are waiting to see the outcome of that before we put any date in stone. It drives people crazy that we haven’t set one yet.

We got engaged in November 2011 and had to wait until early February to see about his course schedule before we could plan (he works full time and goes to school). Once we had that we were able to plan for our July 2012 wedding.

We were engaged about 8 months before we set the date! It took me so long to actually start

I’m with ya. Three weeks here and though we are agreed on Spring 2014, we’re not 100% sure since we haven’t really sat down to start discussing everything.

- Wedding: June 2014 - Ontario, Canada ♥ EDD- April 2016
We chose the date after a couple of weeks. There wasn’t any rush because we knew we wanted a long engagement (: We just told people we were enjoying being engaged and weren’t beginning planning yet.

We had a date within 3-4 weeks.

I’ve been engaged almost a month and I get that question all the time too. We’re planning to have a long engagement because we’re both broke and it’s gonna take quite a while for us to save up for a wedding. So I just tell everyone that we’re shooting for October 2014, but that nothing will be definite for a while.

We were engagd May 2012, ended up getting married September 2012. We set the initial time frame pretty quickly, picking the actual date a few months out.

We got engaged then went on vacation 2 days later – it was great to give us some alone time to enjoy being engaged and talk about what we wanted for our wedding without everyone asking a million questions! We came back from vacation and had already decided that we wanted Sept or Oct 2013. We ended up choosing a specific date and venue about 3 weeks later.

we had an idea of when the wedding would be long before we got engaged… i just told people “not next spring, the spring after that” lol. everyone thought it was “such a long engagement! why not next spring??” but we really wanted to take our time planning. we only picked the date after about 5 months of being engaged and looking at venues, etc.
