me and Simon were going out for 3 years before he popped the question in January. how about you guys?
we are high school sweethearts and dated for 10 years before he proposed.
we were together about 2 1/2 years before he proposed.
3.5 months. And we were basically living together in a dorm situation from like the second week! TSK TSK! Hahaha
BUUUT, we're engaged for 2.5 years so it'll be almost 3 years before we tie the knot, and right before we make 3 years we move together.
We were dating for 4 years before he proposed to me! We were high school sweethearts!

If you're just looking for recent posters' responses, we were together for a year and four months. We knew we'd get married about two months in though!
One and 3/4 years... we just got married in March and this month was our three year anniv!
My sweets proposed on our anniversary of our first date (the first time we met in person), four years almost to the minute. :)
2 years for us... friends for 10 years before we started dating though haha!
1 yr and 8 months! we were friends for 2.5 yrs before we started dating also.
13 months. We'd knew we'd be together forever from the first month though, but I'm glad he waited to pop the question, even though we already had our life mapped out in front of us!
We're both 30, so we had enough experience to know this was special and didn't have to wait around forever! (However, I strongly believe if you're younger -- specially less than 25, a few years dating will work to your advantage, no need to rush!)

BUT. We'd known each other for 10 years before dating... And were very close friends.
Most importantly... It wouldnt have mattered if it were 7 weeks or 7 minutes. I would have said yes! Ive always wanted him to be the one... ;)
We were dating almost 3 years when he proposed. You should add a poll to this post. It would be interesting to see the breakdown.
we were together about 6 months before he popped the question and it was totally unexpected when he did it.
2 weeks! No kidding. But.. officially... I didn't consider making it official until 1 year... and even then... I wanted him to REALLY propose... so then he did in front of hundreds of people on stage- that was about a year and a half after we were together, 2 years after we had met.
Lol...I'm definitely in the minority here: 11 years & 10 months! Grant you, until about the 11 years & 8 month mark, neither of us actually wanted to "get married" (I'm one of those "converted" brides who believed it was an antiquated ritual forced on women by society's norms until she went to RCIA & learned about the SACRAMENT of marriage). Once I told him "I think I'd like us to get married", he went right out & bought the ring; proposal came two months later.
