I was just wondering how long all of you mothers were in labor for, start to finish. Did you do it all natural or did you have medication? If you had medication what kind? And share a picture of the finished product, if you don't mind =)

I was in labor for 49 hours (almost 50) and did it all naturally at the midwifery =) and this is my favorite picture from right after she was born. even if I was a big ol mess how long were you in labor? : wedding Rsz 025 Copy

1st child - I was in labor for 3 days and had her natural. By the time I wanted something, it was too late.

2nd child - This was a hard pregnancy. I was pregnant with twins and lost the first twin during the first trimester. I was in labor with the second twin for two hours and didn't have time for any medication.

3rd child - This was also a hard pregnancy. I was in labor almost the entire time I was pregnant, so had to be put on bedrest. I ended up having an epidural (sp) with him and he came 3 months early.

I don't have any new baby pictures of any of them on my computer, but they are each grown now and turned out to be wonderful young adults. I am very proud of each of them.

About 36 hours, and I had an epidural around hour 30.

You are both ROCK STARS! Wow.

@noritake22: sorry for the loss of one of your babies. :(

I was in labor about 20 hours. It was natural until the last 20 minutes because I wanted good meds to put me out of my mind since Moose was gone. I could've gone natural otherwise.

I had no meds and did natural for all 4 kids.  My labours were never that bad and I probably laboured 12-ish hours.  And that's from when contractions started.  My Dr. would always yell at me, telling me that I shouldn't wait til the last minute to come in!  Like I want to run to the hospital at the first contraction and be stuck there for 12 hours?  I went to the hospital where I had "hard" labour and did that for 2 or 3 hours tops.

No photos due to privacy reasons.  Sorry.

I went natural with no meds. I had a 3 hour labor, I'm told I'm really lucky!

1 kiddo - 13 hours - no meds...at 7-8 I started to lose resolved, but they told me it was too late, and I was actually RELIEVED...once I knew pushing was near, I knew I could make it (I had just been visualizing staying in that level of pain for several more hours...I went to the OB @ 5cm and was 6cm when I got to the hospital.  I liked laboring @ home, but I was SCREAMING at my hubby, who of course hadn't finished packing my hospital bag.  (I was only 5 days early but just set stuff on top of the suitcase, so he would know where he had packed items.)  :P

Oh, and I also think if I hadn't had a *back injury* I would've been a little more collected...at least that's what I'd like to think!  Just take me as a warning story..if you have any injuries that seem OK, get them checked out ANYWAY before TTC...pregnancy is not kind to injured joints.  :O)

I had quite a bit of time to get all my stuff packed haha I didn't actually pack my stuff until the second day! When I first went into labor I made my FI sit down and watch the Notebook with me LOL my back labor was the worst! I started crying at the end because I was just a big tired emotional mess =)

I felt my first inklings of contractions at about 5am. Barely there twinges - but noticed body changes as well. (I had no braxton hicks prior)

At 4pm I was checked into the hospital (was there for a non-stress test) at 4cm and still wasn't sure about calling the doula because I didn't think we'd need her for a while. At this point the contractions were minor cramps and I had a very dull lower back ache. I just wanted to get checked in so they'd get me out of the 'triage' room and I could relax in a tub!

Around 5:30 the contractions started gaining in intensity rapidly. I'm guessing I starting thinking "OMG!" around 6:30 and Warren was born at 8:33pm. No medications.

4.5 hours of 'active' labor (including transition + pushing).

11 hrs of 'I think this may be it' minor twinges & cramps :)

WT's about 45 minutes old in this pic.

    29 hours.

29 long, gruelling hours. [about 1.5 hard labour/pushing] my contractions were about 5 minutes apart for only a few hours, and that's when I started getting ready to go to the hospital (as I had been directed by my OB since it was a first pregnancy); they were 1-2 minutes apart for the rest of the time, yet I had to be induced after 14 hours due to the concerns of the doctor.

My mom kept saying things like "oh well I had you in 13 minutes, I don't know what is taking so long!" yeah, thanks mom, really helpful.

My labor started at 7 at night, just small contractions so I was able to sleep through it. I woke up at like 5 am (which is CRAZY for me, I am NOT a morning person), and took a bath to ease contractions, then quickly cleaned up around the house and we left to the hospital at 7 am. They broke my water at 11am, and I got my epidural about an hour later. My sweet little girl was born at 7pm. =)

Here she was right after she was born,

    and us 3 years later!

20 1/2 hours, all natural, no meds. We had a homebirth with a midwife and a doula, and I delivered in a birthing tub. The labor itself was not that bad - the worst part by far was when they stripped my membranes to help labor progress.

@snmcdowell: I had a good part of my labor in the tub at the midwifery, and it was AMAZING! But when it came time to push I was sliding around and I felts awkward and unstable so I got out. I am hoping to give birth to the next baby in the tub =) and YAY for midwifes and doulas!

18 hours then things went downhill and I had to have an emergency C section.

Even at its' worst, it wasn't really that bad.  Even the epidural.  And they had to stick me 2x.

6 hours from the very first contraction. The first one came at 3 am. At 5 am I went to the hospital and I was at 1 cm so they told me just to go home and relax. I tried so hard to relax, but my daughter was in a hurry. The urge to push came at about 7:45 and I was back at the hospital at 8:15, legs crossed to keep her in there. She was born at 8:56.

I was going to deliver in a birthing tub, but there was no time. I used the laughing gas.

Next time (whenever that will be) I'm aiming for a homebirth.

15 minutes.  Actually it might have been all day.  I had enchiladas for lunch and I thought I had gas, went shopping the rest of the day.  My mom thought since the "gas" came and went we should go to the hospital to get it checked.  I got to the hospital, they got me undressed, the doctor came in and started to sit down.  I told him not to do that, 5 minutes later my son was born.

12 hours: Started at 12 am, things were going great, at 6 am decided i needed pain medicine but was afraid of the epidural. BIG MISTAKE! The pain medicine stopped the contractions and had to start ALL over again, had my son at 12:42 PM. needless to say next time I'll try to go natural.
