How long were you and your husband/wife/fiance together before getting engaged? Also, how old were you at the time and what part of the country are you from? I'm curious if there are any patterns between these factors!
We had been together 5.5 years when we got engaged. I had just turned 29 (we got engaged on my bday) and we are from NH... Interested to see if there are any patterns!
@jwinnings: We were together for almost 4 years before the engagement, we were both 23, and we are from New Zealand :)
4 years and about 2 weeks.
I had JUST turned 29 and he was 30. We are from Montreal, Quebec.
Just about 4 years and 10 months. We got engaged when I was 28 and my FI was 30. We're now 29 and 32 respectively and have been together a total accumulative time of 6 years and will be getting married in 7 short weeks.
we were together 8 years on the dot... he proposed a few days after our eight year anniversary. we started dating when we were 16, and were engaged at 24. we will be married around 26... he will have turned 26 a month before we get married, and I will turn 26 a few weeks after we get married. We are from Canada :)
6 months. I'm 22 he's 32. We both live in Las Vegas now, but I'm from New York and he's from Maine originally. If we stick with our a original wedding date we'll have been together for 2.5 years when we get married.
6 years :) We started dating when I was 23 and he was 25 so I was 29 when he proposed and he was 31. We are in the south....Florida.
We was two days short of our three month anniversary when he asked me to marry him. Although we had a super long engagement which was 3 years & 9 months, before we got married. Also we had been living together for 9 months before we got married. We got married 4 days before our 4 year anniversary! :-) Oh forgot to add we live in VA but are from KY. I was 15 he was 17 when we started dating, same age when he asked me to marry him & I'll be 20 this September he will be 22 this November. (I think this post is GREAT!) Alot of people get married young in KY/VA/WV. Id like to see how it runs in other places in the states & World!
We were together for a little over 5 years when we got engaged (we'll be engaged for 1 year next weekend!). We were both 24 at the time and we're from Upstate, NY.
We were together just over a month before getting engaged (friends for 2 years prior). Engaged for about 18mth due to finances and wedding planning. We were 21 & 26 when we tied the knot. We live in South Texas.

Over 3.5 years together when he proposed... we were both 27 & it was about time....! We had been living together for over 2 years. We just got married in April and we had a 16 month engagement. We're both from MI and now live in PA.

5 and a half years before he proposed! We started dating in college when I was 19 and he was 21, now I'm 25 and he's 27. I'm from NY and he's from Ohio (but we both now live in NH for a year or so more).

He proposed at almost five years. We started dating when I was 19 and he was 21- I'll be 25 and he'll be 27 when we get married. I'm from Indiana, went to school in Florida (where we met), and now we live in DC-- people in this area get married and have kids "later in life" becuase of crazy jobs, and I totally understand. (not that I consider 25 "later in life....)

13 months after meeting, we got engaged. I was 30, FI was 27. I'm from Chicago, he's from Brisbane, Austraila. Now just about to get married, I'm nearly 32 and FI is nearly 29.
