We have planned out a 2 week honeymoon but I'm feeling guilty and nervous about asking off of work for that long.  Plus the day before and the day of the wedding.  What are you all doing?

i'm using all my vacation time for the year for the wedding and honeymoon (1 week before wedding & 2 weeks for honeymoon).  i would ask as soon as possible- i'm getting married the same month as you and asked back in december of last year.

We'll both be off work for 3 weeks & neither of us feels guilty at all.. LoL!  I doubt that we will ever be off work this long again & neither of us has ever been off this long before.

Don't feel guilty about using your hard-earned vacation time! Just make sure you give your work the right amount of notice, as required. A two week honeymoon sounds fabulous - I'm not engaged yet but I am sure ours will probably be about that length too.

The reason I feel guilty I think is because I started a new job in December and I won't have much vacation time saved up.  I want to take the vacation unpaid though.  I'm scared they will say no. :(

@whitandrior:  Just get in nice and early and give them as much notice as possible and I'm sure it will be okay! Smile

We are going for 26 days total but of that, including weekends and statutory holidays it works out to be 17 days off work! Haven't taken more than one week at a time off work in the last three years so we are suuuuper excited :)

7 days, but we're also taking off the entire week before the wedding.  Don't feel guilty.

We're taking a week but we might sneak in an extra trip this year before we start TTC.  We haven't gone on a vacation since '08 so I think we're due for a double this year anyway!

Wow you are all taking so much time before the wedding! I only took the day before.  I wish I could do more.  I hate that I'm feeling guilty also!  I think it's because I'm a nurse and I feel like I'm not supposed to leave my job for anything ever.  I hate feeling like I live only for my job though.  I need a life outside of it also.

My company is really relaxed on taking vacation time as long as you give them proper notice.  I took 3 weeks off for the wedding, and regularly take 2 or 3 weeks off at a time for my vacations every year.  There are people that save up their vacation time and disappear Thanksgiving week and dont come back until after the New Year!

10 days in HI, plus 2 nights in a hotel in NYC before the honeymoon and then we have the weekend off when we get back so another 2 days of "off time".

I'm taking 3 weeks off - the week before the wedding and then a 2 week honeymoon.  My fiance is taking the day before the wedding off, and then two weeks for the honeymoon.

We're taking off about a week and a half. Travelling to Missouri on Tuesday, wedding on Saturday and just taking a 4 day honeymoon.

My boss will be on maternity leave so I didn't want to leave them stranded (if they have to call Bingo more than twice in a row they get cranky lol, those elderly people can be feisty!)

After my boss comes back we're taking a week-long beach vacation. I'll probably need it by then!

Thanks, y'all are making me feel a lot better about just asking for the time.  Now I feel like I want more. Laughing  But I won't get too greedy.

@whitandrior:  Our honeymoon is 7 days, but I took off two weeks.  I wanted to be able to come back from the vacation and recuperate.  I think it's important to enjoy my new status before jumping back to work.  I also have to re-prepare my body since I work overnights.

ETA: It kind of works out for me though.  I only work three nights a week so I only have to take 6 PTO days.  It looks like I only took a week off.  My last day before the wedding will be the 8th and I'll go back to work on the 29th.  I already had it approved by my director.

I'm not taking any time off for the wedding since I work for myself. As for the honeymoon we'll be gone for 25 days, FI had to take 17 days of vacation time.

I would not feel the least bit guilty about taking time off. When I was working at a company full time I made sure to take every single day off that they paid me for when I quit.

I'm taking off just over 3 weeks - 1 week for our DW and 2 for the honeymoon. I don't feel guilty at all! My boss is even pushing me to take more time off after we get back from the honeymoon (I'm already planning on taking off 3 days after). I'm not even using all the time I have earned/saved from working overtime and vacation days. I've had it on the calendar for almost 4 months now.

we are travelling to ontario for 3 weeks for the wedding (10 days before/11 days after) and to visit our families.  we haven't even planned on anything else yet for when we come back home to mexico, we may spend some time in the mayan riviera, holbox island or drive down to belize.  after we are married, every day will feel like our honeymoon so it doesn't matter where we are.

We are taking off Thurs and Fri before the wedding on Saturday. We leave for St. Lucia on Monday and return on Sunday. We will probably take off Mon and Tues just to relax at home and decompress before returning to work for a short week on Wed. So in all we will take 9 days off from work.

Our whole trip is nine days long. First two days will be arrival and the wedding. Seven days will be honeymoon.

I took two full weeks of vacation time from work because I get three weeks a year to use. I am still trying to use up the rest of mine from this past year before my work-a-versary arrives.

Our honeymoon was eight days long. I would have loved for it to be longer, but we couldn't afford it. We chose more luxury and less time over more time and less luxury. Just our choice though. :)

Hoping to build up enough holidays in the next 2.5 years to take 6 weeks off in total. 1 week before wedding, 1 week for wedding, 3 weeks honeymoon and 1 week to recover after!

Our honeymoon will be 11 days total. We aren't leaving until Monday and going to spend 24 hours in Puerto Rico before heading to Antigua! It's not easy getting to Antigua so we opted for a 24 stop in PR to explore :) We are both teachers and will be getting out of school for the summer a week before the wedding, so we have the ability to take a longer honeymoon! We are spening 9 nights at our resort then 1 night in Miami en route home! Do not feel bad about using your vacay time! Enjoy every minute with your new hubs!

I know how you feel.  We are planning our 'pre' honeymoon over fourth of July week, so that is one vacation day my FI doesn't have to use up! (9 days and 9 night + two travel days) We are planning on leaving on the Friday before and coming back the monday after that week, but he doesn't have to use 6 vacation days becasue he can just put more time in during the weeks that we leave and come back.  He mentioned the idea of staying longer but I feel so guilty about using up any more of his vacation time! He only gets two weeks and I want to leave some for other stuff too.

I'll be between my seasonal careers, so I'll have nearly two months off starting 6 weeks pre-wedding.

FI works a 5-on/5-off with the fire dept., and is taking a shift off prior to the wedding, then working a shift, then taking another shift off so we have 15 days off for a honeymoon.

My honeymoon will be 9 days.  I'm taking off from work 3 days for a bachelorette cruise, 1 day for the wedding, and 5 days for the honeymoon (I get one freebie since our honeymoon falls on memorial day weekend), so nine days off from work total.

We have 14 days for the honeymoon...with the wedding, weekend, etc...we have a total of 2 days off. When else are you going to have an excuse to have so much time off work???! :)
