I was just curious because the place where I would like to ceremony to be is a longer drive (25 minutes or so) than the other ceremony locations we’ve looked at (about 8 minutes). It is a small wedding so it’s really just those closest to us but my mom thinks we can find something closer. I’ve looked but things that are closer seem to be more expensive and this is our less expensive alternative to a traditional wedding (small, short ceremony followed by dinner at a nice restaurant followed by cake/champagne/socializing at our rental house). So how long would you be willing to drive?

If the ceremony space was 25 minutes away and it fits into our budget would you appreciate a shuttle from the ceremony space to the restaurant to the house? (so guests could just all meet at the house and take the shuttle and it’s a four hour minimum so might as well use up as much time as possible)

Our reception venue was a 30 minute drive away. We had a Catholic ceremony, so we had no choice about ceremony venue. Our options for reception venue nearby weren’t that appealing, plus there was a time gap between ceremony and reception, so we opted for the semi-long drive. I think more than a half hour drive would have been a lot to ask of our guests though.

I voted for ‘as long as it takes’ but I do appreciate it when I’ve been guest where there wasn’t a long drive involved. Our ceremony location is 10 minutes away from our reception location.

Ethics say no longer than 30 minutes in between ceremony and receptio location, but I have driven further.

30 minutes tops. After that even I’d be getting annoyed so you can imagine how the guests would feelXD

I would say maybe thirty minutes. I think the shuttle is a great idea, I would definitely appreciate that as a guest.

25 minutes isn’t too bad. I’ve done it as a guest and didn’t think much of it.
