so I got my dress at a sample sale in nyc and since it was a sample sale, they did not do alterations, but they gave a list of suggested people with whom they work with..i took the dress home but was wondering how far in advance do you usually go to have your alterations done for the wedding? we’re planning to have our wedding september 2010…

My wedding is spetember 12, 2009 and I had my first bout of alterations done 2 weekends ago. I only needed a bustle done though, the rest was fine. I’d take it to one of the tailors they suggested, try it on, and see what they suggest. But usually about 2 months out should be good

We started alterations about three months out — I think two to three is usually normal!

I’m also a September 2010 bride, I was told to come in in July to start alterations as September is such a busy month and they may get slightly backed up.
