I was engaged on Valentine's Day :) we were at seperate ends of the country at the time and he was coming up for his birthday in april and we were supposed to do it then but we're just so possessive of each other we got engaged on feb 14th by posting each others rings to each other haha !
I've got a bit of a wait til I'm engaged (so went for the only option that allowed for that), I think it'd be interesting to get a quys point on this if we could (set holidays/occassions vs personal ones vs random day proposals)
didnt want to be proposed to on valentines but it was the only way he could surprise me lol my ring!!!
I told my husband that if he proposed to me on Valentine's Day I'd say 'no' on principle lol
see thats what i said but i got caught up in everything and didnt care anymore lol i was just so excited!

Just curious as to the statistics of Valentine's Day proposals. All my life, this day has been crammed down my throat as a special romantic day that I refused to celebrate (but to be fair, I never had an amazing guy in my life to celebrate it with before I met my FI). Now that I've been wedding planning and reading so many threads on the WB board, it's shocking to hear about the expectations people have on this day. So that brings me to my original question and poll.
Also, I'd love to hear any "waiting" bees' thoughts on this. I've never quite understood the intense yearning to be proposed to because FI proposed 2 months after we started dating and we were already talking about someday getting married within the first few weeks of dating.. crazy I know. I suppose I could understand how some waiting bees were expecting a proposal during Christmas-time or the New Year but it didn't happen so they now have their sights set on Valentine's Day.. but what will you do if that day passes and nothing happens? What is technically the next big holiday to be proposed on? President's Day? St. Patrick's Day? What makes Christmas-time/New Year/Valentine's Day so special? It all seems so strange to me.
Sorry for the length of this post and if it seems like I'm giving people who got engaged on Valentine's Day (or expecting one) a hard time. I'm just genuinely curious and would love to hear your side of the story!
