@Jennifferq:  DH and I did this… we only open it on anniversaries though and not when ‘things get hard’

We write a new one every year and put a new bottle of wine. My dad made the box and  made space for our toasting glasses from the wedding

@Jennifferq:  I have never heard of this and I think it is really sweet. I am definitely going to suggest this to FI!

@abc123joanna:  I love the idea of doing it on anniversaries and not just when things are rough. Hopefully keepingt the communication open will prevent things from getting rough.

You mean a bottle of wine, not a glass, right?

I think it’s cute but kind of unnecessary. Our wedding pics, our home we’ve created together, our family and friends are more than enough to remind us what we need to fight for :-).

@Jennifferq:  we are doing this during our ceremony. We are writing letters but not reading them and putting a bottle of wine in the box along with the letters and nailing it shut.

We are doing this as part of our wedding. We got two bottles of wine, a Bordeaux for the 10-year anniversary, and a Chateauneuf for the 5-year.

Many wines won’t last well for 50 years, so be careful what you put in there – you will definitely get what you pay for! (You might have vinegar at that point! :D)

It sounds really sweet, but personally not my thing. If we built a box like this, we’d probably just fill it with silly stuff to serve as something to lighten the mood if external problems like family or finances affect us.

@Jennifferq:  it’s nice because you can keep all of the letters in the box, so you can go back and read them from each year 🙂 i’m very happy we did it

@lifegirl:  we did something similar too… i had a mailbox and had guests write letters to us and we will open them on whatever anniversary corresponds with their table number.

@Jennifferq:  I don’t think it’s a bad idea or anything, but I do think it’s a bit sappy. I mean I guess that’s the point, but it doesn’t sound too spontaneous. I guess my SO and I are not really the love letter writing kind. Cute texts, little notes, sweet gestures… sure… but a full love letter? Awkward.
