I’ve noticed recently that my weight has started going back up after a 40 pound weight loss. I really need to start using My Fitness Pal again but I’m afraid of restricting to much while TTC.
While I was losing I ate 1200 calories a day (I didn’t exercise the majority of the time, and when I did I would eat around 1500), but I feel like that is too low now. I don’t want to mess up my cycles or prevent ovulation. I also stopped working out (bad, I know) a few months ago and am scared to start up again.
I’m on CD 7 and I know it may be irrational but I’m afraid to change anything between now and my FW. I’m really hoping to get a BFP this month.
So… stories, advice? Any weight loss while TTC success stories?

You could add more fruits and vegetables to your diet, and cut out the not-so-good foods. You could also eat cottage cheese, drink goat’s milk, and/or add Greek yogurt to your diet.
Those things are yummy and packed with nutrition. They will up your calorie intake, but not too much, depending on how much you have, and they are healthy. You’ll still have to look at the nutrition facts for these, and other, foods if you decide to use them to make sure you’re not getting too much of anything, like sodium, and so that you can make sure your diet fits you and your goals.

I’m not changing anything really. I think it’s totally fine to lose weight while TTC if you’re not underweight. I typically eat around 1,000 calories a day if I counted them, while not dieting, and that’s all my body really wants or needs so it depends on your body. Just don’t stop eating, obviously and it should be fine.

The only reason youd want to stop losing weight would be if you were already way underweight. You’re worrying way too much, keep Up the good work getting in shape! That will help you be healthier which is what a baby needs in the end. our species would have died out looooong ago if a little exercise and weight loss made us infertile. We wouldn’t have survived the first famine! 🙂

alaska_99705: I was eating 900-1000 a day. My fitness pal suggested 1300, and for me that was to high… i know not healthy!! After a month of that, I got my BFP…(i do think the 11 lb weight loss help get pregnant)… So I went back to eating “normal”and have only gained 2-3 lbs in the first 10 weeks

OP, I am in the same boat as you!
Congrats on losing 40 pounds…I’ve lost 22 since I started trying to lose some weight back in March. We will be TTC actively on my next cycle (I’m currently on day 1 of this cycle) and I feel the same way you do. I don’t want to restart any bad habits, but I also want to be happy and non-hungry and stress free during the time we are TTC. MyFitnessPal kind of stresses me out because I’m a very all-or-nothing person. Haha. I guess the best thing to do (for both of us!) is to just try to be healthy as we can. If MFP stresses you out, like it does me, stop using it and just try to eat better kinds of food, without necessarily counting every calorie. Good luck!

I’m trying to eat the way i always do to maintain, just a bit healthier. If i splurge today, I’ll just have some veggies for lunch, or skip altogether. For me, it’s keeping the average consumotuon right so that the ups and downs balance out. DH and I go to the gym regularly also, which I’m keeping up.
Unless you’re missing periods Now, severely underweight, or your doctor says you have a problem, you’re probably just fine. Staying active and healthy means that you have a better chance of staying active and healthy while pregnant too, so i only see it as a Benefit.

alaska_99705: I get your concerns – I’ve had some of them myself – but I’ve decided that as long as I’m not overdoing anything and what I’m doing is healthy, then it should be fine. I’ve actually put on weight in the past 6 months or so, and I’m not happy with it, so I’ve decided that even though we just started TTC, I’m going to work at getting in better shape while I can. I figure, even if I get pregnant this cycle, I can still keep up with working out and try to get into better shape during my pregnancy by eating clean and keeping active.
I’d say going back on My Fitness Pal would be fine – 1200 calories per day shouldn’t mess with your cycle. And get back in the gym! Exercise is great for you throughout pregnancy, so get into the habit now and you should be able to continue once you’re pregnant.

alaska_99705: Just keep living life as you normally do. And definitely don’t be afraid to exercise- it’s so good for you and your potential baby! The month we conceived (our fourth month trying) I went skiing and running at high altitude, sat in a hot tub, had some scotch, and flew from Alaska to Colorado to Nebraska and back and didn’t get much sleep. I’m not advising to do those things (I felt a little bad about the hot tub and the scotch), I’m just saying that a little exercise or weight loss will not effect whether an egg is fertilized/implants or not. They’re hardy and there really isn’t much you can do to hurt a blastocyst short of dying or maybe being exposed to extreme radiation or something. Best of luck to you, I hope you get pregnant soon!

I ate the same as graygodess20 and got pregnant on the second cycle. I was about 117lbs at 5’9″

As long as you’re not starving yourself so that you lose your cycles…I think you’re fine to keep on doing what you’re doing. You should definitely start working out again, it’s good for you and if you’re working out now you can keep it up throughout pregnancy.
