Hi there all,
My fiance and I are looking for a suitable engagement ring for me as we have just saved up some money! (We have a baby together).
I have a very, very small finger that is quite thin. I'd like to have something fairly noticeable (AKA bling!) and am wondering who out there has a small finger too (size 4 - 4.5) and can show me some pics of your ring?? Thank you! It doesn't matter what size/cut) I just want to see how it looks. I'm thinking a 1 ct so that it really is noticeable on my finger, but I'd like to see everything.
My finger is size 3.75. This is my ring, (sorry it's a bit blurry). Center stone is 2.1 carats with a halo.

@Meowkers: Wow!! That's stunning. Love it! What kind of comments do you get on it?
@brittandkelly: thank you. I get very positive comments on it frequently. :-)
@Meowkers: Gorgeous! Mine is almost like yours too.
@brittandkelly: I have a 4.25 ring size. My center stone is 2 carat cushion cut with a pave around the stone and sides. It's the Tiffany Legacy setting.
My finger is a 4.25 and my fiance got me a 3ct ring. It has a 2ct center stone with 2 side stones that are 1/2ct each. The ring is pretty big but it is amazing and even though I have small fingers
I don't mind showing off my rock lol. Most people adore it and give me compliments but I do sometimes get the jealous people who tell me it is too big for their liking (as if anyone could actually complain about recieving a big diamond)
I have 4.5 fingers and when I tried on rings, even if the budget had been unlimited, anything more than a carat just felt huge! I think you really gotta try different ones on, and you just know! Different settings can make them look different, plus different cuts face up different sizes.
Wel my ring is smaller and my finger slightly bigger but it might help you get some perspective.
I'm a 4.75 ring size (I wear a 5 tho because I don't like it too tight) and my ring is a 1ct center with halo.
I am a 4.25 size finger. My hands are more on the petite side. My ring is a 1.57 radiant solitaire. I'm a bit biased but I think it's perfect. If you're looking for added bling, I would look into getting a pave band. I think they add oomph to the ring. =)
I have a size 4.75 finger (although it's probably actually a little skinnier, I have big knuckles lol). My center stone is .8 carats, though the table is 1 carat so it looks like a 1 carat from the top. It definitely stands out! I feel like it is the perfect size.

I wear a size 4 and have a .90 ct cushion cut. I think it looks "blingy" enough, But I don't think anyone would think it looks too big. It feels just right to me! :)
I have a size 4.5 finger and a 1.06 carat diamond. Its an asscher though, so they face up a little smaller than rounds
@bp123: That's beautiful!!! Yours is almost the exact size I think I want. Enough to draw attention but not enough to look gaudy and fake! Thx for uploading!
I have about a 4.75 finger and my center stone is 2 carats with a halo. I love the way it looks and don't think its too big but I definitely think it's all about personal preference.
@theredhead: LOVE IT!!! Sooo unique and gorgeous! I think it looks like Princess Di's ring ;)
@asscherlover: I love how elegant yours looks on your hand! That's what I like, simple solitaire. It's perfect, your honey has great taste!!! Thx for uploading!
@bp123: What do you call yours? I want exactly like it, with the slim band!
@Alleycat: Oh wow! I'm not a fan of circular stones but yours made me change my mind! What do you mean by the table?? I have looked at some that say they are a .8CT and they look exact to a 1.0CT..I'm confused!

@Olive12: Thanks so much for commenting and posting a pic of your ring!! I am in love, its beautiful! what does your wedding ring look like? I like the pave band, but I'd like a white gold slim band coated in diamond.. do you think that would be a good choice?
@Alleycat: I dont have a ring to share... but Wow do I love yours !!! What designer is it ??
@MissSawyer: WOW. So gorgeous, definitely one of my faves so far. Thank you for all the tips. How much does it kind of stick up from your finger?? And thx for posting!
@love108: Thanks so much for the tips!!!! So, if I were looking for a classic solitaire princess that was quite large and stuck out quite a bit, is there anything you could recommend that I could ask for (like setting, cut, etc.) Thank you!!
@asscherlover: Could you explain what an asscher is?? I really, really love yours and would like to look at their designs.
thanks!!! i love it too :) i had it custom made and it is based off of a vintage setting. i have more pics that i just posted where you can see it from the side and other angles. i don't really know what I'd call it, but the look i was going for is just a delicate thin shank with 5 tiny diamonds down each side, and a low set set solitaire in the middle. My .90 center looks a little bigger than it is just cuz of the cut. here is the other post with more pics

The table is the top face of the diamond. There are certain "ideal" proportions for diamonds, so that round diamonds of a certain size should have a certain size table. Alleycat's ring has a proportionally large top face. Heres a diagram :)

Asscher is a specific shape of diamond. It is basically the same as an emerald cut, but square. Asschers and emerald cuts are step cuts, so they have more flashes of color than other shapes. The most common shape you'll encounter is round, which is technically the ideal cut for reflecting light. Princess cuts are probably the second most common, and a square. Other common shapes include ovals (like rounds), Marquise (ovals with points), pears (a mix between oval and marquise), cushion cuts, and radiant cuts.

My finger is size 4.75 and my diamond is 1.10 carat. I think it is perfect! I'm just going to drop all the hand photos I have on you here lol. Hope they help :)

@asscherlover: Thank you asscherlover! :D It is actually an H color- the jewelry store lighting actually made the stone look darker for some reason in the photo--This is actually a photo of a video my b-f took before he locked the ring up in a vault :-/,, let the waiting begin lol
@brittandkelly: thank you so much. Below is a pic with my wedding band. Sorry for the bad lighting, I had to sneak it. FI teases me about wearing it before the wedding though secretly I think he likes it when I wear it. As for your question, I love a slim band. I think it adds a bit of elegance and the pave it gives major sparkle. Both of my rings have pave on all three of its visible sides. Though I have two suggestions. One, I would not get an eternity band with diamonds going all the way around. It will be very difficult to resize it if you lose or gain weight. Secondly, if you go for a cathedral setting like I did on the e-ring, I would suggest making the wedding band a little bit bigger width bc the higher profile of the e-ring can slightly dwarf the wedding band. Definitely, go try on rings with different style diamonds to get a feel of what you like. I always thought I would have a cushion and I ended up asking for a radiant because when the cushion was set it was too round. Good luck!
(sorry for the massive pic)

@smiles731: I've taken photos like that of my ring. Diamonds are tricky to capture.
My ring size is 4.25, and my center stone is 1.5 carats. Certainly not huge, but I think it looks sufficiently blingy on my hand :) The key is to get a great quality stone so it sparkles a lot; I think that makes it look bigger!
I have a 4.25 with a 1.25 carat equivalent (it's an Asha, not a diamond) and think it's a great size! It doesn't feel too big for my finger at all.
@asscherlover: You're so awesome to post that, thank you!!!! I love the asscher shape now I have more to think about. Thanks for the info, too. You're great!
@smiles731: Yours looks perfect on your hand, and it's stunning. Love it! Thanks for posting the pic!
@lawyer2bee: Yours is so unique! I've never seen one where the band crisscrosses like that, but I love it! Jaw-dropping!
