I have one already; with all the fun of a teenager, we have realized that we prefer puppies and will not be having any more.

well, I want 3, but hubby only wants 2. We'll see what happens lol He wanted two close together (like him and his sister. he thinks it's perfect...) but I don't want them close so I said I would compromise and have 2, but spread them out lol I was from a family with 4 kids and I think 4 is too many, but whenever there were 3 of us together it seemed just right (i.e. much less fighting lol). Who knows what will happen though!

FI and I both come from families with 2 children... we've discussed having kids in the future, and we both agree that 2 is probably our max.

ZERO!  I want to be a great aunt, spoil my sister's kids then send them home, retire early, move to a foreign country and open a bar (well the last part is FIs dream).

i want two, he wants three. i told him he'd have to do some fancy convincing to get me on board for a third. i come from a family of three kids and i sure don't want to have to deal with a middle child.

    said the middle child. lol.

Although I love my career I have always known in the depths of my heart I am supposed to be a mom. I would love to have 5 kids but the FI wants 1 haha.... I'm hoping we can compromise on 3?!?! For now, our fur baby will have to suffice.

I originally wanted two. But after losing my brother last year, I told my husband I want 3. It's really hard being an only child now and I never had sisters growing up but we MUST have one of each :)

I want 2, DH wants 3.  The only way I will consider having 3 kids is if we have 2 boys or 2 girls because I desperately want a girl and he wants a boy. Obviously it wont matter as long as they are healthy but I really really want a girl.  I have a feeling I will have 2 boys and try again and get another boy!!!

I want three or four children, and he wants two or three.  I'm the youngest of three girls, and he has a younger brother.  I think I want to have more because my mum ran a home daycare and I was ALWAYS surrounded by children, plus as the youngest with a five year gap between me and my middle sister, I always longed for a playmate who was closer in age.  But we'll see what happens when it happens!

My husband came from a family of 11 kids (all by the same parents) and I came from a family with 3. I think we will compromise with 5-7 kids. He loves how big his family is and they provide so much entertainment and diveristy. =)

I would love 3, Fi wants 2 so the deal is if we have 2 boys or 2 girls, we'll try for the 3rd and if we have one of each, we'll see how we feel at the appropriate time...but i usually get my way :)

We want one and we've already got her, so we're good. :) You might want to add a zero, as there are people that don't want any.

We've always said maybe 2 or 3 if we're lucky enough.  FI is the middle child and insists on even number children to avoid the middle child syndrome.

As a parent, can I offer some advice?  It's good to have an idea of how many you want.  And if you want 2, and he wants 7, some discussions need to happen.  But really, for those who don't have any children yet, it's hard to know how parenting will shake down for you.  Some of you might be hesitant, and find you love it.  Some might think it will be the best, and find that it's really tough.  Some people are just more suited for it than others.  And yes, sometimes we have to prepare for the "accidents", or fetility troubles, etc.  Ans you might think you want just two, but if they both end up being the same sex, do you try for a third?  Sometimes these questions can't be answered until you get there.

Certainly it's important to figure out if you don't want kids, or a big family is super important.  But maybe a little flexibility to let the chips fall where they may, in a sense, is good.  Not that anyone is coming off as rigid.

    Just some thoughts :)

We would love to have 4, but will probably stick with 3. I'm from a family of 3, and I think it worked out really fun and great. My husband only has one brother and it doesn't seem like enough! But, we will how things work out.

I would probably like to have 2 - one of each.  FH and I each come from 2-sibling familes, so I think that number works for us.  Smile

We get asked this question a lot. We always say after the first one, we'll decide if we want a second, after the second, we'll decide if we can handle a third.....etc. I would love to have four kids, if we can handle it ;)

I have two brothers and would love to have/adopt to reach a total of three or four kids but at the same time I fear that I'd be unable to offer them all the opportunities (i.e. music lessons, sports camps, travel) I wouuld if there were only one or two. I think I'd rather have one or two and give them every experience possible but I would also love to have a full house.

I want 4 and he want's 3, so we have a compromise worked out. If we have three and they are all boys or all girls, then we will adopt a little girl or boy, I think that works out quite nicely, but we'll have to see, I have some health problems that may have affected my fertility so we may have to adopt all of them, which is fine with me!

We both want however many God blesses us with that is within what we can afford. When people ask us, I usually say that we agreed on 4 but when they ask my FI, he comes out of nowhere and says 6. :)... AH... MEN!

Two and only two. Twins run on both sides of our family so I am actually kind of hoping for them and then I'll be done. I've been thinking about babies too lately Embarassed

We both want three.  We both grew up with only one other sibling and would have liked there to be three of us.  Plus, I'm in line for twins (my grandmother had three sets) so maybe having three will only take two times ;o)

Mr.Rain and I are still... discussing that :)

He doesn't want more than 2. I want either 2 or 4. So I voted for 2, but I still kinda hope he changes his mind or that we can adopt as well as have 2 biological children. We'll just have to wait and see!

We both have always said 2, but I'm not betting on anything until we get there! I really have no idea how we'll feel about it once we actually get started. Although I refuse to have just 1...I would have hated not having any siblings (I have 4)!
