I recently started cloth diapering and it's awesome! I started out with 4 bum genius covers and it's totally enough if you don't mind possibly doing laundry every 1-2 days. This morning I ordered 10 more from Sun Baby for $44... we'll see if they're any good.
I only have 5 covers (3 Thirsties due size 1, 2 Flip) and that's been working fine for almost 2 months. Granted we aren't doing daycare so don't have to provide any for them. I am planning to order 2 more FLIP covers which are my favorite of the two.
On a side note Warren usually only poops every 2-3 days. The cover always needs to be washed after a poop. (Because when he does poop it's in mass quantity and gets all over the cover - but usually doesn't leak!) If your child poops more frequently I could see possibly going through covers faster.

We are going to be using cloth diapers for our baby. We are using a cloth diaper service for the prefold liners (both at home and at day care), but we are responsible for providing our own covers both at home and at day care. How many covers do you think we should we purchase? Currently we have 1 wool cover (which the manufacturer claims needs to be washed only 1x per month) and 4 Thirsties Duo wrap snap covers in size 1. Should we buy more?
