Hi, I realized we dont have a cake board, so I thought this would fit under reception.

We are serving cupcakes in lieu of wedding cake for our wedding.  We hope to have approx 150 people.  We plan to have 3 to 4 flavors to choose from.  My question is how many cupcakes should we order?  I have heard of people saying that they had a ton of cake/cupcakes left over when they order enough for every person.  But then I think, if there were cupcakes, I'd probably have two (yep, I totally would).  Then again, my fiance said he never eats the cake/cupcakes (I always eat his too...oh yeah, that would total 3 cupcakes for me).

Any suggestions or advice appreciated!  Thanks!

I think if you order one per person, then it should work itself out - those who eat two will just take the ones from those who don't eat any!  Or maybe, if you're worried about more people trying multiple flavors, then order 1.5 cupcakes per guest.  Sounds yummy!

i think 1 cupcake per person would work out too. we're doing the same, but only have 75 guests. We are assuming that some will pass on dessert once theyve had cocktails and dinner, and others will help themselves to two. Hope it works out for you too!

Yeah 1 per guest will be more than enough. I just did a wedding cake for my uncle's wedding and I don't think even the bottom tier was completely finished, and there were 3 tiers. Cupcakes are easier and more fun, so I think people will go for them more than regular cake. (It's cake to go... and awesome little package of cakey goodness that you can eat with your hands!) So if you get one for each guest, it will be perfect, even if more people eat them than regular cake, because so few people seem to actually eat the cake for some reason. haha

mmm... cupcakes. Maybe I should have eaten breakfast before I read this post. :)
