How many cycles did you wait to TTC after MC?

Mine might be a little different. I had a d&c in September.  My doctor had me wait two weeks after the d&c to have sex and I had to wait one full cycle to start trying again.

I had a natural MC in August. Doctor told me to wait until AF showed up on her own, then to TTC whenever we  were ready – so we started that next cycle.

Was yours natural or a D & C? That might make a difference.

I had a natural miscarriage as well.  The nurse in the er who confirmed the miscarriage told me there was no need to wait to try again.  My doctor told me to wait one cycle to get my period again before trying, so that is what we did.  (I think the main reason for this is to help date a new pregnancy, it also avoids having to use your miscarriage date as your LMP for a pregnancy if you got pregnant again right away)  We got pregnant the first cycle we tried after the miscarriage.  Sorry for your loss, I hope you get your rainbow baby soon.

I just had a chemical pregnancy, AF was late 4 days and my doctor wants me to wait 2 full cycles before trying again. For a miscarriage at 10 weeks she would recommend waiting 3 full cycles before trying again; I asked her.

I’m not following her advice and I will try again this cycle.

After a natural miscarriage between 6-7 weeks, my doctor recommended that we wait 2 cycles, but also said that (since I have bad reactions to most forms of birth control), it wouldn’t be bad if I accidentally got pregnant after one cycle. (I didn’t….but I’m holding out high hopes for this third cycle.)  Best of luck to you.

I had a natural m/c at 5 weeks. Had an u/s that showed I no longer had an interuterine pregnancy. I was told to use condoms until I had one AF then we could TTC again. We didn’t wait and I got pregnant on the m/c cycle. The m/c was cycle 6 of TTC and we didn’t want to waste one possible chance.

They were monitoring hCG the week after m/c so they didn’t use the miscarriage date as my LMP. They totally didn’t expect me to be pregnant again and doubted they would see anything but u/s showed I was 6 weeks 4 days, or 3 days? The u/s gave me my due date. I’m 14 + 2 weeks today.

The only one who said anything was the nurse who did my in take. She said, “So much for using condoms for a month? Huh?” I just shrugged my shoulders and that was that, aside from them being really shocked.

I had a very early miscarriage at just under 5 weeks.  My doctor told me to wait one cycle and get a blood test that showed no HCG before TTC again.

I was told to wait until I got my first AF, and that was mostly so the lining of my uterus could regrow. Women are supposed to be most fertile in the 6 months after MC, and recent studies (that are widely quoted) don’t show a medical reason for waiting. You could always just tell your doc that you WILL be trying and see if she has either any suggestions or valid reasons for you to wait.  She knows more about your situation than we do.

i just got AF, but we were as trying as you can be without knowing if/when you ovulated for the last two weeks. The timing didn’t work, but I am glad I have been able to officially “close” that pregnancy.

0! I miscarried at 5+5 weeks & we started trying again as soon as I stopped spotting. I got pregnant again immediately & now I’m due in 3 weeks 🙂

My doctor didn’t tell me to wait but sounded really annoyed when I was back in her office a month later asking for betas. Meh!

Dr. told us to wait two cycles.  I think waiting 1 cycle is the norm.  Waiting 2 or 3 is just extra precaution.

I just found out today that our baby has no heartbeat, so we scheduled a d&c for Monday and the doctor said to wait until after my first period after the d&c. So… One cycle, I guess that would be.

@graygodess20:  I had an early miscarriage (5 weeks) back in October, I wanted to wait one full cycle before trying again just so i could date the pregnancy properly but i fell pregnant immediately. I understand that the further along you are the longer it takes for the Hcg to drop and you dont ovulate until your Hcg is below 5 so as to how long it will take to get pregnant again comes down to timing and Hcg levels but you really dont need to wait especially not to have sex. Once the bleeding has stopped you are free to have intercourse again.
