I usually cook chicken breast (boneless, skinless) on Sunday night and eat it through the week. I think it depends how fresh it was when you cooked it but usually it’s good till at least Friday. I’d say shorter if it’s diced (more surface area for bacteria to grow on) or attached to bones.

I usually think the same for ground beef, roast or pork tenderloin.  Ham kind of seems to stay good longer since its usually cured.

I am NOT a leftovers person.  I don’t usually make enough for leftovers because most things I won’t eat leftover.  But, with chicken I will sometimes make an extra serving to use on a salad the next day.  So, for me, it’s max 2 days after before I won’t eat it.  I’m sure it’s technically fine, but I really don’t eat leftovers because it doesn’t taste good and I usually get tired of eating the same thing over and over.

I tend to freeze leftovers the next day, because I like to eat something different for dinner each night. If I’ve cooked chicken I wouldn’t trust it after day 3… but usually it won’t last that long anyway, because SO has eaten it as an after-work snack Tongue Out

I’ll eat anything up til 7 days. I’ve only ever once gotten food poisoning, and it was after eating something (that was in someone else’s fridge) that I had NO idea how old it was!

I’ll eat it on day 3 but on day 4 I might not.  I’m not really a leftovers girl….I have chicken in the fridge from last night that I didn’t finish and I don’t even really want to eat that!

    I will, though.

I think my 3-4 day rule holds true for other meats, too.  I tend to be a bit more picky when it comes to cold cuts from the deli (eg. turkey slices).

After a couple days in the fridge I’d be grossed out, whether it’s actually bad or not. I just freeze extra meat so that I know it won’t go to waste.

I made shredded chicken last Sunday and we ate it for lunch all throughout the week. There’s still quite a bit left and as far as I can tell, it’s still edible though I don’t think I have it in me to risk it. I vote 5+ days.

I’m ok with it through day 3. But then I’m really bad about throwing it out so its often in the fridge longer even though I wouldn’t eat it.

Sniff test. My dad taught me and neither of us have ever been sick. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t eat crazy old stuff but even best before dates on stuff- if it’s texture hasn’t changed, it doesn’t show mold or it doesn’t smell it’s probably fine (ie. sour cream, yogurt etc…). Meats I would say like 4-5 days ish depending on the cut, how it was prepared, how well it was stored, how long after cooking it was refrigerated. It’s a science in my mind haha. Fiance is super paranoid about everything with leftover foods.

Three, maybe four days max for me. The only time I ever have left over chicken is when I roast a full chicken (so every few weeks) & we usually finish all the meat off it in three days.

Cooked chicken is fine for 5+ days!  I make some on Sunday and then put it in my salads for lunch.  No big deal.

@MrsSawyer:  Haha same here! If it looks or smells ‘off’ that’s when I toss it.

Anything after 4 days should be thrown out.

Depends on how it’s cooked I think. I can keep grilled chicken breasts in the fridge for up to a week and they’re still just find on salads and sandwiches. When it smells off I throw it out. It’s usually around 6 or 7 days for me though, I have a super cold fridge.
